Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Alan B. Curtiss, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. Tetrainn (talk) 03:56, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unless I'm missing something, it looks like the only material you removed that was not explicitly sourced was the phrase: "Among the dozens of major films in which he has participated". The policy section WP:CALC says that "routine calculations do not count as original research", so I don't think it was inappropriate to use basic arithmetic to summarize his itemized Filmography as "dozens of major films". Nevertheless, I'll leave out this phrase, and restore only the uncontroversially linked material. —173.56.111.206 (talk) 04:21, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Literally you are not allowed to add your personal opinions. Tetrainn (talk) 04:24, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fully agreed. On your own Talk page, I see you were recently alerted that "Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits." You'll also see at WP:MINOR that removing content & references in an article should not be marked as "minor edits". Please exercise appropriate restraint in your future use of Rollback – and of course I'll exercise appropriate restraint on personal opinions. Thanks for understanding. —173.56.111.206 (talk) 04:49, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Just in case you didn't see it, since I've now asked it to be unpinned:
The admin who last edited that filter(Zzuuzz) explained what it is that the filter was stopping in your edit, and how you can proceed: Special:Permalink/1212257475#173.56.111.206

Ah, thanks for chasing this down with User:Zzuuzz. In a million years, I never would've guessed that WP policy allows(?) "German inventions" to be a secret trigger that automatically disallows editing. Anyway, instead of this category (accompanied by Dutch inventions and others), I just put "European inventions" and added an explanatory sentence to the article text: "Historical credit for the mechanical metronome is spread across Spanish, Italian, French, Dutch and German contributors."
I'm planning some further citation cleanup that will trim some redundant refs from the article. Now I'm more hopeful that it'll produce a harmless tag without another false abuse report. Thanks again for the follow-up. —173.56.111.206 (talk) 00:05, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at List of people from Staten Island, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Dr. Ashley Schimmel (talk) 02:57, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I did no such thing — but less than an hour later, this "Schimmel" account itself was indefinitely blocked for vandalism. Good riddance. —04:17, 7 September 2024 (UTC) 173.56.111.206 (talk) 04:17, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
