Still Adopting?

My Adopter retired some time ago. I am still interested in becoming a better editor and contributor to Wiki. Would you be willing to take someone on? It's been a while since I've done much (2009?). Maybe I could be given a few tasks or something to get me in the groove again? I never did really learn the ropes and what I did learn is now quiet rusty. Thanks in advance, and much appreciated. Careiter (talk) 16:44, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Edit war

I seem to be involved in an edit war here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnival_of_Souls:_The_Final_Sessions

I have several times removed a "review" from Allmusic, and stated at the discussion-page why I did so. Another editor of the page obviously disagree. Any help? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.198.86.177 (talk) 10:00, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi, would you be interested in adopting me? I would like to learn how to make my contributions better and I'm looking towards long term Wikipedia contributions.

Thank you in advance.

Best,

Someone named "Berean_Hunter" accused me of spamming and removed the external links I've added. The links were from an online publication I visit regularly, and I'm not sure why those links are being labeled as spam while other publication links were left intact.

I went out of my way to put up links that were on-topic, weren't redundant with information already on the page or its external links, they were original content, and the links are open to the public.

I thought the external links were a way of providing more on-topic information that couldn't be integrated into the Wiki page itself? I don't know why he's accusing me of spam or singling me out.

Greetings! Question on Vandalism

Hello. I am a first time user of wikipedia and have a specific question: How do can I report a person how has acted not in good faith on a friend's article? Is there an entity within Wikipedia that I can report a case of vandalism? Arbitration and mediation is not what I am looking for, just a way to stop this person from future acts of vandalism such as removing over 60 links from an artis's article(s)?

I would appreciate you advice.

Kindly,

Tea Party Movement

The "Tea Party Movement" is described as a protest to taxation. That is historically incorrect, as it was TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION IN THE BRITISH PARLIAMENT. In this country, the REAL "Tea Party" would be those who are taxed without commensurate taxation - women as a whole, who represent over 50% of the country but enjoy as little as 25% representation in Congress and less than half of that in state legislatures, the poor, and the shrinking middle class (since most representatives in Congress and in state legislatures are millioinaires). There is no way to edit the "Tea Party" page, as there does not seem to be any allowed means to do so, concretizing instead on of all places the open information system such as Wiki, which I no longer respect as "neutral" since they do not allow any editing of the site to represent true historical facts. The overwhelmingly white and rich population that represents the "Tea Party" merely protest paying taxes, period, because as a political philosophy, they do not believe the government has the power to collect revenues and would rather minimize or do away with government regulation altogether. I've lost all respect for Wiki as a group and as a legitimate source of information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Afoneill (talkcontribs) 17:55, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

F.C. New York

Dear Sir or Madame: I have contacted wikipedia once before for this same error and it was removed, but is back up again. I believe the person is exploiting this for their own commercial reasons. Please note for the record: Chris Symons is not and has never been the goal keeper coach for our club. Chris Symons has never been on the payroll of F.C. New York. As the president of F.C. New York and one of the owners, I can state this and prove it if needed. Please remove his name. If needed contact me, Doug Petersen F.C.New York dpetersen@fcnewyorksoccer.com or 1-866-827-0154 Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.108.24.227 (talk) 23:35, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

GOCE drive invitation

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors

The latest GOCE backlog elimination drive is under way! It began on 1 July and so far 18 people have signed up to help us reduce the number of articles in need of copyediting.

This drive will give a 50% bonus for articles edited from the GOCE requests page. Although we have cleared the backlog of 2009 articles there are still 3,935 articles needing copyediting and any help, no matter how small, would be appreciated.

We are appealing to all GOCE members, and any other editors who wish to participate, to come and help us reduce the number of articles needing copyediting, as well as the backlog of requests. If you have not signed up yet, why not take a look at the current signatories and help us by adding your name and copyediting a few articles. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words".

Hello, I have asked for assistance on this matter before here and here but the accusation have never been fully recanted nor deleted and the user who made them LegalEagleUSA continues to make a myriad of unverifiable claims against people editing the Marisol Deluna article here and in real life.

In this reply here, user Alteran1 admitted to being asked by Marisol Deluna herself to edit her article and engage in a edit war with other editors on her behalf who had deleted uncited claims from her article. User Mr. Brown also admitted in the begining of the edit war in this AFD discussion to personally knowing Deluna and also made the same accusation against me. There were several other new and one time users in that deletion process who also made verbatim accusations against me and others for having been the first to discover the article was in need of major editing so I've become convinced this is a TagTeam of editors harrassing people who change the article.

My issues are that if you read the entire exchange in her talk page here, user LegalEagleUSA threatened to "use my legal resources to protect her (Marisol Deluna)and others (her supporters) from additional harassment or defamatory actions." which never took place coming from me or anyone else who edited the article, threatened to "out" my real life identity (which they claim they know), and continues to contradict him/herself every time me or anyone else challeges her accusations. Myself and another editors asked to have the accusations deleted or striked through here, here, and here and this was the reply. Ideally, I would like the accusations to be deleted and for someone to look into the ownership, personal attacks, and conflict of interest issues going on in that article by several editors. As I don't think it fair for a new user to make random claims and refuse to delete them just because they were instructed to do so and disagree with others edits. Admittendly, I am continuing to investigate these users on my own accord since their accusations are still visible for all to see and I consider them unjust. Can you help? Thank you. Biography needs formatting, picture needs uploading.

Hello, I'm not a user of wikipedia, but I noticed that the following page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Braulio_Alem%C3%A1n

lacked citations and a photo. This historical figure is very important to a friend of mine (her ancestor) so I sought out two sources as well as a photo. I have linked them on the page, but lack the rights or knowledge to format them correctly or upload the photo. Your help in this matter would be immensely appreciated. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.185.212.251 (talk) 05:15, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Ambassador Program: assessment drive

Even though it's been quiet on-wiki, the Wikipedia Ambassador Program has been busy over the last few months getting ready for the next term. We're heading toward over 80 classes in the US, across all disciplines. You'll see courses start popping up here, and this time we want to match one or more Online Ambassadors to each class based on interest or expertise in the subject matter. If you see a class that you're interested, please contact the professor and/or me; the sooner the Ambassadors and professors get in communication, the better things go. Look for more in the coming weeks about next term.

In the meantime, with a little help I've identified all the articles students did significant work on in the last term. Many of the articles have never been assessed, or have ratings that are out of date from before the students improved them. Please help assess them! Pick a class, or just a few articles, and give them a rating (and add a relevant WikiProject banner if there isn't one), and then update the list of articles.

Once we have updated assessments for all these articles, we can get a better idea of how quality varied from course to course, and which approaches to running Wikipedia assignments and managing courses are most effective.

Greetings, the Wikipedia Guild of Copy-Editors invites you to participate in the November 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive, a month-long effort to reduce the backlog of articles that require copy-editing. The drive will begin on 1 November at 00:00 (UTC) and will end on 30 November at 23:59 (UTC). The goal for this drive is to reduce the backlog by 10% (approximately 500 articles). We hope to focus our efforts on the oldest three months (January, February, and March 2009) and the newest three months (September, October, and November 2010) of articles in the queue.

Sign-up has already begun at the November drive page, and will be open throughout the drive. If you have any questions or concerns, please leave a message on the drive's talk page.

Before you begin copy-editing, please carefully read the instructions on the main drive page. Please make sure that you know how to copy-edit, and be familiar with the Wikipedia Manual of Style.

Awards and barnstars

A range of barnstars will be awarded to active participants, some of which are exclusive to GOCE drives. More information on awards can be found on the main drive page.

Thank you; we look forward to meeting you on the drive!

A Bozo at Editing

Hi there,

I am in need of creation. I would like to create/amend some wiki articles related to "Howell Eurich". He was a Bozo the Clown and Radio personality, and most notably, the grandpa I never met. Recently (and thanks to facebook and the blog-o-sphere) I've become aware of the tremendous life that was Howell Eurich. I would like for his notable events, personalities and photos to be documented. And Wikipedia seems like the best source to gather all this info from the families who still have the newspaper stories and tv appearances. I am a web designer (i said designer, not programmer) and am pretty proficient at the computer but the editing process of wiki is making my head spin. Is this something you could help me with? I am aware that I will need to research and gather my notable sources for citation and that they can't be blogs and need to be of public record from something, but he's already listed in a couple articles on wiki and I would just like to flush it out.

Thanks, Bozo Descendant

ps. I totally don't understand this talkpage vs an email. is this like the facebook wall? stoopid internet is confusing.
