Pending changes reviewer granted

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Revision accepting

[edit]

Why did you accept this revision to the Roseanne article when its entire point was spreading false information?--Harmony944 (talk) 21:01, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Harmony944: My fault, I saw that Season 11 was shot, so I thought that was logical. Many thanks for the revert.--1233Talk 21:05, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
While it confuses me how you could've seen that season 11 was shot when iZombie (for example) doesn't even get back to the writer's room for another three weeks (as in, most of the industry would probably in closer range of that than a supposed three weeks earlier), I appreciate that it was an honest mistake and not anything out of malice or denial. And you're welcome--Harmony944 (talk) 17:18, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Event coordinator granted

[edit]

After reviewing your request for the "eventcoordinator" permission, I have enabled the flag on your account. Keep in mind these things:

  • The event coordinator right removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period.
  • The event coordinator right allows you to temporarily add the "confirmed" permission to newly created accounts. You should not grant this for more than 10 days.
  • The event coordinator right is not a status symbol. If it remains unused, it is likely to be removed. Abuse of the event coordinator right will result in its removal by an administrator.
  • Please note, if you were previously a member of the "account creator" group, your flag may have been converted to this new group.

If you no longer require the right, let me know, or ask any other administrator. Drop a note on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of the event coordinator right. Happy editing! — xaosflux Talk 11:35, 7 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted

[edit]

Hi 1233. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Swarm 23:17, 8 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Airlines ping

[edit]

IP block exempt

[edit]

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked (through the use of CheckUser) periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. Deryck C. 14:29, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

RfC conclusion?

[edit]

Hello 1233. I've responded here to your AN3 complaint. Please reply, if you know the answer. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 13:21, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What did you mean by "these really isn't a small thing for Hong Kong citizens". You mean that Hong Kong citizens prefer the country field to say 'Hong Kong' rather than China? At first glance it is hard to see why this is important. EdJohnston (talk) 16:39, 3 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@EdJohnston:They would rather not fill the country field.--1233Talk 03:04, 4 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@EdJohnston: (Inhabited) dependent territories have always been and shall be presented as countries and along with countries. This is conventional wisdom to all English-speaking peoples. 203.145.95.209 (talk) 11:27, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mass message sender granted

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "massmessage-sender" user right, allowing you to send messages to multiple users at once. A few important things to note:

  • Messages should only be sent to groups of users who are likely to be interested in the topic.
  • For regular mailings such as those for WikiProjects, localized events, or newsletters, users should be informed of how they can unsubscribe from future mailings.
  • The mass messaging tool should never be used for canvassing with the intention of influencing the outcome of discussions.

For more information, refer to the guidance for use. If you do not want mass message sender rights anymore, just let me or any other administrator know and we will remove it. Thank you and happy editing! Swarm 03:50, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear 1233/Archive 1 :

You are receiving this email as you have signed up as an interested member of the Wikimedia User Group Hong Kong, and is active at the English Wikipedia.

This message is sent on behalf of group Liasons of the User Group.

As the mission of the group has been successfully amended, and Liasons elected, the Liasons to affcom have now sent an email to Affcom seeking recognition. However, during the process (which is delayed by the hosting of Wikimania), we have been requested by them Affcom to amend the name of the usergroup (which subsequently mean a change of text of logo as well) as our name did not meet their guidelines.

To resolve this problem, one of the liasons, 1233, has started a discussion on the group's meta talk page(meta) to amend the name of the User Group according to the email received about the recognition of the group. We would hope for more input so as to obtain consensus on this matter and resolve this situation. The discussion will end at 00:00, 1 September (HKT, UTC+8).

In order to speed up the process, we would assume you having no preference if no reply is received on meta.

Many thanks,
1233 (on behalf of the Liasons)

Progressive Lawyers Group

[edit]

I've come across your new article Progressive Lawyers Group at Special:NewPages and, not speaking or understanding Chinese I may be misunderstanding what's happening.

I can see it's been edited by a few editors since, Billytanghh, WhisperToMe, Krislcc, & Hayman30 who I hope may help shed some light on my first question

  • What happened to the copyright issue on the Chinese version. Was it resolved when you copied the article across?

My second question is, Where's the attribution to the Chinese article. The contributors there are due credit for their work, not least since one of them has already tried to create the article here - User:Sailorneptune/sandbox. The guidance in Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources#How about copying from one Wikipedia article to another? & WP:TFOLWP applies. Cabayi (talk) 11:41, 17 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Cabayi:This is the whole story: I originally wanted to translate the article back to English, however after reviewing the article in Chinese, I found out that there is a possible copy issue (the words may be copied from somewhere), so I just literally rewrite everything (except the infobox, which I actually translated and did some minor changes (including changing the key people, etc.) So consider the two articles independent from each other as I did not base the enwp article from the Chinese one after I saw problem. Have plans to translate the English version back to Chinese as the Chinese version is actually so poorly constructed that I would rewrite them.
Short story: 1. There could be Copyedit problem at the Chinese version. It looks like the words were copied from somewhere.
2. I did not translate but literally rewrite the whole article in English, I digested the meaning of the Chinese one and then just rewrite. The copy paste from the Chinese version is due to one thing: need not to open back and forth.
3. No it is not resolved and the only thing that come from the Chinese one is the infobox organisation structure.
4. We were told that the article was deleted ( Progressive lawyers group )due to notability and possible advert issue, so I did the whole thing from scratch.
Thanks for your question --1233 ( T / C 12:14, 17 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello
You added the 'over-coloured' template to this page a while ago; what do you see as the problem, here? Moonraker12 (talk) 20:57, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Moonraker12: Normally, with a black background (in a table), text should go default in white. However, because there are links, it turned blue and contrast do not meet the standards as a result. I do not know if the black background (on banknote tab) is intentional or not, but that is where the problem lies. 1233 ( T / C 23:35, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK...Are there standards written down somewhere? Guidelines on using colours? (I don’t know) AFAIK we can’t change the colour the links display in, but the background colour should be easy to adjust; which colour would be most suitable? Or the links could be moved; I don’t know that it’s essential they be in that position. I had thought the problem was with the orange contrasting with the grey, though I have no idea why those bits use orange at all; for my money they could go completely... There's WCAG 2.0 (now recommended to do WCAG 2.2), a global standard on colour/visual compatibility. I think the best is just to remove the colour, considering the use of the colour is near zero - unless it conveys some message. The problem is blue on black. 1233 ( T / C 04:39, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the link (though I have to say it's a bit complex for a bear of very small brain); But I would agree the colour serves little purpose, and taking it out would match the banknote tables further down. Do you want to do it or shall I? Moonraker12 (talk) 19:59, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think that it's fine for you to do that - it is not that controversal, and the reason why I leave that template is mainly due to my (also small brain) inability to decide what can be best done to resolve that issue - so I identified an issue but not resolving that. 1233 ( T / C 05:54, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

OK, Done. I've taken the liberty of copying this discussion to the talk page there, as an explanation of what has happened. Regards, Moonraker12 (talk) 17:33, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
