Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

The Original Barnstar
For standing up to the madness which is the "there are x genders" movement where x is an ever-changing number which will always get larger based on the whims of freaks... 50.88.229.139 (talk) 13:22, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A little story... I have a dog who hates other dogs. As a matter of fact I suspect she thinks she's human. I say "she" not because I am "assuming" her gender- she has two x chromosomes and a vulva so I can say with confidence that she is a female. Even with her confusion about what species she belongs to, I'm sure she isn't confused about her gender unlike some members of the species she aspires to be... Even so, I don't treat her like a human (okay maybe sometimes I do), but rather in my mind- she is a dog. Not just a dog, but a bitch because no matter what she considers herself, she is a female of the species Canis lupus familiaris. But today in the human world, we have these freaks who want to be considered "non-binary" and ignore the simple science of XX and XY. Sure, if you want to call yourself "agender", pangender", "trigender", "third gender" or one of the other 69 genders that's your business, but why should I be expected to pander to your mental illness. Where does the madness end? Are we soon going to have 1001 genders? Are our school children going to have to memorize all 1,000,001 genders so that they don't offend the freaks? I'm not a far right wing extremist- in the post-Trump world, I'm a former Republican who is becoming more of a raging moderate who is becoming more open to progressive ideas. But not on this issue. Sorry, but the Democratic Party's increased pandering to the gender freaks has given me pause in my journey leftward. I want no part in this craziness. So go ahead and slap a few "contentious subject" templates on my talk page. Sure beats having an honest dialogue 50.88.229.139 (talk) 13:22, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
