Fahrenhype 9/11

  • If you are opposed to deletion, please post a message on the relevant Wikipedia:Votes for Deletion subpage, so everyone can see. Also, you can sign messages on talk pages by typing ~~~~. Darksun 15:27, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Was Image:FahrenHype 911.jpg released under a GFDL-compatible license? If not, it will have to be listed on Wikipedia:Copyright problems (though this is independent of whether or not the article should be deleted.) --Ardonik.talk() 18:40, Sep 9, 2004 (UTC)
    • I received your message on my talk page. Have you described to the webmaster of fahrenhype911.com what releasing the image under the GFDL will mean? Anyone will be free to copy, edit, and include the image wherever they want for the rest of time, so long as they release their versions under the GFDL as well (that's what makes the GFDL so much better than the public domain, in my opinion.) Make sure he/she understands what he or she is getting into, and give him or her every opportunity to back out if they find our licensing terms to be disagreeable. We may have an opportunity to use the image under fair use provisions if they do back out, but you'll need to discuss that with the people over here that are more familiar with such issues. --Ardonik.talk() 19:07, Sep 9, 2004 (UTC)

Re: Query on deciding the title of a page

  • Nope, I don't see any problems with that...I would've done the same :). For the future, you might want to update the disambiguation page at the english title (don't worry- I already did it this time). It just makes it easier for people to find the movie they're looking for. Thanks for your message! -Frazzydee| 12:27, 17 Sep 2004 UTC
Don't worry- I created an entry on the disambiguation page. You can just proceed to edit Vozvrashcheniye. -Frazzydee| 21:38, 17 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Ah, I see what you mean now. I've redirected The Return (movie) to Vozvrashcheniye, and erased the appropriate link on the disambig. page. Sorry I didn't see that before...I was somehow under the impression that the two movies were different :S. Everything should be working smoothly. -Frazzydee| 03:59, 18 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Territorial dispute

  • You removed to inclusion of Indonesia on the list based on the fact that the Territorial dispute article didn't list the dispute in Indonesia. Since there are indeed Indonesian territorial disputes, it might have made sense to simply add the information instead, as I went ahead and did. Jayjg 05:58, 26 Sep 2004 (UTC)
I'm sorry if the comment seemed negative; I was simply asking you to look again because I had changed the article to address the problem you raised. Jayjg 06:16, 26 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Nousukausi

Hi, i replied to you about Nousukausi on my talk page. bbx 04:59, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)

About Image:Beslan siege rough plan.png

Hi, the link to Image:Beslan siege rough plan.png was Ok when I looked at it just now (here is the direct link). However I've replaced the one in the article with this better one (Image:Beslan_hostage_crisis_initial_plan.png from User: Underscore). -Wikibob | Talk 19:32, 2004 Oct 13 (UTC)

After your insistence that there is still a problem I rechecked and strangely enough there were extra null bytes in the PNG image header that causes Internet Explorer to refuse to load it. I've uploaded a corrected, and smaller, version (compressed using IrfanView). My IE can now view this image - I did not realise as I hardly use IE. It was fine in Mozilla on XP and on NT, also Ok using Opera on NT 4, and an old Netscape 4.79 on an HP. Thanks for the heads-up, I guess I will now play with the strange image to see exactly what the problem was. -Wikibob | Talk 17:26, 2004 Oct 14 (UTC)

Cats & Dogs

I'm afraid I can't help with your question; however, I've posted your question to Wikipedia:Help desk. Hopefully, you'll get a reply there. Best wishes, Meelar (talk) 15:35, Oct 28, 2004 (UTC)

I've just created the article on Cameron Bright. If you feel like expanding the Birth article, I recommend you visit the links I put in for some extensive behind the scene info thingies. Especially the forum on his site can be helpful. :) Mgm|(talk) 09:14, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC)

  • No problem. I'd been sitting on the page for ages, writing and fine tuning it. When you linked Cameron, I was afraid someone would beat me to writing the article, so I decided to go live with the info I had. I'll wait with putting in the controversial scene info in Birth. A post by Cam's mother on his website goes into even more detail, so I'll try to dig that up before I write anything more about the issue. Mgm|(talk) 09:44, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC)
  • Could you have another look at Opposition to Castro? I'm not sure what it was like when you looked at it (I gather is started out very POV), but at this point it looks to me like the nucleus of a good article. -- Jmabel | Talk 20:16, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC)
  • Drew will you reconsider your vote. Please check it out the article has improve a lot since you voted! Thanks and Regards SilentVoice 04:07, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Vandalism

I've seen your user page has been vandalized twice in a short time. Maybe you should ask for a temporary protection. Do you deal a lot with vandals here? That might explain where it is coming from. Mgm|(talk) 08:48, Nov 8, 2004 (UTC)

  • I don't see the need to protect my userpage for now. It's a knee-jerk reaction by the vandals since I reverted articles that they had just vandalised. Anyway, I appreciate your concern. --*drew 08:55, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hi *drew.

Re: 209.133.136.2

Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Map ID

Hi *drew! Then I guess I will have to start translating them. Sounds like a challenge. Is it okay if I ask you for some help with them every now and then? Danny 10:07, 18 May 2005 (UTC)

Hi, again! You may be interested in this. It is still small, but growing. Danny 11:08, 19 May 2005 (UTC)
Hi again! The Andijan map I made myself. The other maps are relatively easy. I take the CIA World Factbook map, save it as a PNG file, and edit it in Paint, which is part of Windows. I erase the names, add names in Indonesian (or any other language I am working in), and reinsert the original color. One thing I find is that the fonts that I use are generally clearer, though sometimes I have to clean them up a bit, especially if they are small. Danny 03:07, 20 May 2005 (UTC)
Tried it just now, but I can't reinsert the original colour. Guess I'll just concentrate on creating articles. :) --*drew 04:02, 20 May 2005 (UTC)
There is a tool above the pencil to take color and copy it. It looks a little like a pencil. If not, tell me which maps you want and I will work on them. BTW, could you translate a short article Etoumbi into Indonesian? It will be an important news story, and I want to be ready. Danny 12:00, 21 May 2005 (UTC)

Hi. I'd like to talk with you about a personal appeal I am making to any and all persons who have edited Indonesia-related articles in the past, to start discussing ways we can collaborate to improve the quality of these articles (e.g. WikiProjects, Regional Notice Boards, and the like). If you wish to read the appeal, it's in Talk:Suharto. If you could get back to me with any feedback, please post it to my Talk Page.--Daniel June 28, 2005 19:12 (UTC)

Hi, the person who submitted this article for deletion has changed his mind in response to my argument to keep. Just to make things simple, could you take a look at what I wrote & see if you agree also? If so, just strike through your argument, & if a consensus emerges to keep the article, I'll rewrite the article to explain his notability. If you aren't convinced, you don't need to do anything unless you want to, & I'll make my actions based on the decision of the Admin who closes this nomination. One other thing, suppose someone used a derogatory term AS a User name, like "Troll", so calling someone who has this a troll may be a compliment. I have unblocked you since after reviewing your contributions both I and several other editors believe that you have indeed made mistakes including posting blatant copyvios in the past but since then you are trying to post only non copyrighted information, however due to the number of your contributions it is very hard to weed out all of the copyright violations that you may have posted in the past and any help you can give in identifying these would be of great help. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stan 16:06, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
