Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Pappu RaGa, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as 1999 Indian general election in West Bengal, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, ask me on my talk page. You can also type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! Steve Quinn (talk) 15:01, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article 1999 Indian general election in West Bengal has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG not enough coverage in independent reliable sources

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, 1999 Indian general election in West Bengal. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – 12th Lok Sabha. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at 12th Lok Sabha. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Steve Quinn (talk) 15:05, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Renamed. Thanks for your cooperation. 331dot (talk) 17:17, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You misunderstand. I'm not claiming you are impersonating him. Please see my statement above. 331dot (talk) 15:49, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You can't use your friend's name as your username. 331dot (talk) 15:58, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It have just used example. I don't have friend name Raghav Gupta. Pappu RaGa (talk) 16:02, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I attempted to carry out the rename, but there are at least two variations of "Raghav Gupta" which prevent me from carrying out the rename. Is there a different name you would like, or a way to change this name? 331dot (talk) 16:08, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
ਰਾਜ ਪਾਲ Can I use Indic alphabets? Pappu RaGa (talk) 16:30, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You can, but that particular one is in use. You may run a choice through Special:CentralAuth to see if it is available(if no results come up, the choice is available). 331dot (talk) 16:38, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes no choice came Pappu RaGa (talk) 16:53, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is a version of that username without a space that already exists(the link I provided only brings up exact matches). The system will not let me carry out that rename due to the similarity. 331dot (talk) 17:03, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to Next Goa Legislative Assembly election, have conflicted with our neutral point of view and/or verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. You should not be removing the AFD template from articles, and definitely not be converting articles into redirects the way you did. If you think an article should be moved, use the process described at WP:RM. It is not okay to convert one article to redirect so you can make the article again at another location.

Can I suggest you use the WP:Teahouse? You seem to be new, and asking questions there will help you understand how Wikipedia's processes work Soni (talk) 06:56, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Since you've been mainly editing articles relating to Indian politics, I just wanted to give a general heads up to you. It is good to be careful and get consensus before making major edits. Soni (talk) 07:30, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't delete it. ਰਾਜ ਪਾਲ (talk) 06:20, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Often we delete discussions on articles this far in the future, and only make them again when there are candidates preparing for it (or news sources specifically talking about the next elections). So I think it should be deleted for now and added back.
But this is also what the deletion discussion is for. I put a link to the two discussions. You can go there and explain why it meets Wikipedia's standards (Often WP:42 or similar). That's how Wikipedia works Soni (talk) 06:47, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Should I file a complain in cyber crime that a sock in Wikipedia is attacking my account? Raj PalTalk 06:32, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I had just reverted a disruptive edits by some IP address and sock including a user which had made changes in ideology without proper explanation and reference. I had just told him to talk in talk page. That doesn't mean you'll block me. If I have done any wrong pardon me. By next time I will discuss with that person before reverting his edits.
