Strecker Synthesis

Hi V8rik, there is an error with the arrow pushing in your mechanism for the Strecker Synthesis, the arrow pushes the wrong way in the second step of part one (going towards a negative charge). As you originally poste dthe picture I thought I would let you know as you might be able to edit it.

Repeat references

Do you know of a better way to add <ref>reference</ref> to the same reference in the same article without the References section below repeating the entire reference in full - as happended here? Thanks. Fireproeng (talk) 20:50, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

• yes, what you is make a ref like with added to the first ref a name for the ref. and then for the second ref simply repeat the name inside a ref tag (see this in edit mode) V8rik (talk) 21:05, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

I know from your edits and discussion associated with Biofuel and Ethanol fuel that you have considerable experience in working on B class articles. But could I gently ask please about your experience in bringing articles up to the WP:GA or WP:FA level? I would like to look at your GA/FA articles so I can gain more confidence in you as an editor. organometallic articles

I am going through what we have in wiki chemicals wise on organometallics for linking to Chemspider. We don't have that many articles! On the other hand your overview articles are excellent and give Wikipedia good coverage of the subject. Thanks for the link, google shows mainly wiki mirrors of the chemical reaction list (so basically nothing). The reaction depicted by the Russians I am unable to fit in with other wiki articles (what mechanism?). I created a short article on hydrosilylation, switching out one of the redirects within organosilicon chemistry. Elastomers Category

Any particular reason you replaced the category "Polymers" with "Polymer Physics" in the elastomers article? Why not both? Plus - there is a lot of curing references in the article which a polymer physicist would not be interested in. Delmlsfan (talk) 21:40, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Delmlsfan, I am reasoning that the polymers category is reserved for actual polymers and the polymer physics category reserved for general concepts. Elastomers are a type of polymer that share a physical property. Benzyne conversion

V8rik

I made an adaptation of your Benzyne conversion image - see:

• blue = unscrambled position
• red = scrambled position
• purple = considering both positions together/cross-over product.

If you think this adaptation is not distinct enough/too close to your original image then let me know and I'll delete it.

If you are OK with it, I will add it to the Isotopic_labeling page. The idea was to show how the carbon labels get where they do. I need to edit the summary of the image to explain colours, but will wait for your OK first.

Biocatalysis.

		Hi V8rik. Today we had a lecture by Nicholas Turner, talking about deracemisation by enzymes etc. At a certain point he showed the wikipedia page Biocatalysis, which refers to him. He had no clue who made that edit etc. That information was added by you. There was a bit of a laugh, on the copy he showed there was a typo (there is written emzyme i.s.o. enzyme). (It has been repaired, 9 minutes after the talk finished by someone in Cardiff University). This barnstar is to give you the recognition that you deserve for this edit! Hello, I have noticed in this reaction scheme, in the formula of trimethyl orthoformate you had lost "3" in the subscript index. Persistent carbene article

Hi V8rik, Quantockgoblin has suggested I get onto you, as you seemed to have had major input. I'm going to edit the article to have a standard US/UK English variant, as well as give it a good going over with a fresh pair of eyes. • I did some edits in this article but some unknown user (IP address only) actually wrote the bulk of the article that started out as part of the carbene article (later on a separate article was created). See for example this old edit http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Carbene&oldid=69046626. So by all means edit the article as you like! I can volunteer to redo the periodic table bit if that helps. I am not sure what you mean with the US/UK variant but if you mean with that the flavour of spelling I have no preference. Direct process

Hi, we are at it again, an article is being readied on the direct process (Si + MeCl). I was thinking of recommending that this thing go into organosilicon chemistry, what do you think vs stand alone? Polyphenylchromium compounds

What is missing from Organochromium chemistry and also Franz Hein is the actual nature of the compounds made by Hein. As I recall they were shown to be sandwich compounds with polycyclic aromatics. For example, triphenylchromium was a sandwich with naphthalene and benzene. Petergans (talk) 20:59, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
