Guild of Copy Editors July 2016 News Hello everyone, and welcome to the July 2016 GOCE newsletter. June Blitz: this one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 12 through 18 June; the themes were video games and Asian geography. Of the 18 editors who signed up, 11 removed 47 articles from the backlog. Barnstars and rollover totals are located here. Thanks to all editors who took part. Coordinator elections: The second tranche of Guild coordinators for 2016, who will serve a six-month term until 23:59 UTC on 31 December, have been elected. Jonesey95 remains as your drama-free Lead Coordinator, and Corinne and Tdslk are your new assistant coordinators. For her long service to the Guild, Miniapolis has been enrolled in the GOCE Hall of Fame. Thanks to everyone who voted in the election; our next scheduled one occurs in December 2016. All Wikipedia editors in good standing are eligible; self-nominations are welcome and encouraged. July Drive: Our month-long July Copy Editing Backlog Elimination Drive is now underway. Our aim is to remove articles tagged for copy-edit in April, May and June 2015, and to complete all requests on the GOCE Requests page from June 2016. The drive ends at 23:59 on 31 July 2016 (UTC). Commons images on the main page

As stated in ITN's edit notice and in the text accompanying the template's "image" parameter, images should not be transcluded on the main page until they've been uploaded locally or protected at Commons. (Please see Wikipedia:Main Page/Commons media protection for a simple method of triggering Commons protection.)
In this instance, Malcolm Turnbull at the Pentagon 2016 cropped.jpg appeared on the main page in an unprotected state (subject to vandalism) for about thirteen minutes.

Thanks for using Wikipedia:Main Page/Commons media protection, but the protection doesn't take effect instantly. As noted in the instructions, it's important to confirm the bot has transcluded the image at Commons:Auto-protected files/wikipedia/en before using it on the main page. (In this instance, it took about five minutes.)

Also, please remember to remove the existing "(pictured)" notation when adding it to a different item. Thanks again. —David Levy 21:27, 12 July 2016 (UTC)

• 12 citations to Karl Alman aka Franz Kurowski
• 12 citations to a self-published source Florian Berger
• 6 citations to Gordon Williamson (writer)

I'm not going to apologize. The post there merely calls out a small hypocrisy where TRM did something he castigated me for not long ago.
