Appearance
Super Mario Bros. 2 is a 1988 platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It is a retrofitted version of the 1987 Famicom Disk System (FDS) advergame Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic,[a] retooled to feature characters and elements from the Super Mario series. Both Doki Doki Panic and Super Mario Bros. 2 feature the player characters as they attempt to defeat the evil King Wart, with the player traversing the characters through a series of side-scrolling levels. Doki Doki Panic stars the mascots of Fuji Television's 1987 Yume Kōjō (lit. "Dream Factory") technology expo, while Super Mario Bros. 2 features Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Toadstool as its protagonists.
