Magdalena Pinkwart (born March 17, 1980 in Warsaw) – Polish press, radio and TV journalist, travel blogger, author of books and tourist guide books[1]. TV personality, radio and television commentator[2][3]. President of the Olgierd Budrewicz Association of Travel Journalists.

Magdalena Pinkwart studied Polish and Ukrainian Philology at the University of Warsaw.

Journalistic activity

She has worked as a travel journalist since 1996. She has published in main newspapers and magazines in Poland,Gazeta Wyborcza, Rzeczpospolita, Życie Warszawy; the magazines National Geographic Traveler, Podróże, Harper's Bazaar, Zwierciadło, Świat i podróże, Biznes i Turystyka, Tele Tydzień, Tele Świat, Olivia, Claudia, Świat Kobiet; on the nationwide portals: natemat.pl[4], wp.pl[5], interia.pl[6]. She was the editor-in-chief of the weekly magazine Super TV (Bauer Media Group)[7][8], the monthly lifestyle magazine Ona&On (Ringier Axel Springer), as well as the the TV-guide magazine TV2Tygodnik (Cyfrowy Polsat)[9]. Since 2019 she serves as editor-in-chief of the travel magazine Read&Fly Magazine[10]. For 6 years, she hosted a travel show called Dziecko w drodze[11] in Polish Radio – Polish National Public Broadcaster. Since 2014, she has been writing one of the most popular family travel blogs in Poland – Keep Calm and Travel. Since 2024, she has been a correspondent in Great Britain for TVP Polonia – a channel of Polish Television, a public service broadcaster and the biggest TV station in Poland[12].

Publishing activity

She writes travel guide books, including for Hachette Livre and National Geographic publishing houses. The book Gambia. Kraina Uśmiechu (Gambia. The land of smiles), which she co-authored with Sergiusz Pinkwart, published by National Geographic, was awarded the main Magellan Award from the Literary Magazine "Książki" in category for The Best Illustrated Guide Book in 2015[13][14]. Magdalena Pinkwart's guide books have been translated into English, German, Spanish, Lithuanian and other languages. She is also an co-author of children's book series Drakulcio ma kłopoty (Little Dracula is in trouble)[15].

Social activity

In parallel with her professional career, for many years she was a volunteer journalist at the Archive of Oral History of the Warsaw Rising Museum[16], where she conducted dozens of press and television interviews with civilians and insurgents[17], witnesses of the Warsaw Uprising 1944.

Charitable activities and associations

Since 1998, she has been a member of the Association of Travel Journalists Globtroter, where she serves as the chairwoman of the Audit Committee. Since 2019, she has been the president of the Association of Travel Journalists named after famous XX-century Polish traveler and reporter, Olgierd Budrewicz. She is on the jury of competitions and plebiscites of the tourism industry[18]. Since 2018, she has been hosting the yearly gala concert of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity in Liverpool[19] together with her husband, journalist Sergiusz Pinkwart. Since 2020, she has been a member of the jury of the international plebiscite Osobowość Polonijna Roku (Personality of the Polish Diaspora of the Year)[20], among journalists, lawyers, members of parliament and senators of the Republic of Poland.

Personal life

Magdalena Pinkwart is the daughter of Polish journalist and writer Grzegorz Micuła[21]. In 2015 she emigrated to Great Britain and settled in Liverpool. She collaborates with Polish media in Great Britain[22] and social organisations developing positive relationships between Polish community and local residents.

She is married to writer, journalist and traveller Sergiusz Pinkwart. They have two children: Wilhelm (born 2013) and Lara (born 2018).
