Malika Kambe Umfazi Sorority (MKU) is a non-Greek lettered organization focused on the reclaiming and affirming of African and Latino contributions to society. Membership is primarily for undergraduate women at 4-year colleges/universities and women at the graduate level; however, not all members are college-educated. MKU was founded on June 16, 1995 on the campus of the State University of New York at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York by three women - Chetachi Egwu, Adelechi Egwu and Edna Shaw.
MKU currently has eight chapters or "queendoms" serving Buffalo, New York City, Baltimore and Washington, DC. Membership can be obtained while attending a 4-year college/university or after obtaining an undergraduate degree.
The current national president is Sabriyah Amin.
