Best of luck to the US and Israeli Winter Olympic Teams.
Israeli Athletes
Ok, so I was bit surprised to hear that five Israelis were participating in the Winter Olympics. But then I thought about it. Israelis have made the Negev bloom, they've made some of the most impressive technological advances, and they're determined people overall. So, to:
- Galit Chait and Sergei Sakhnovski (Ice Dancing)
- Brother and sister Alexandra and Roman Zaretzki (Ice dancing)
- Michael Renzin (alpine skiing, mens and giant slalom) the first Israeli in this sport in the Olympic Games
GOOD LUCK!
American Athletes
There's 211 of you, so I won't mention you by name. But good luck!
Update: I saw Chad Hedrick win the Gold in speed skating in the Men's 5000 m. He was pretty impressive. Plus he's Texan, so what are the chances of that?!

- Galit Chait and Sergei Sakhnovski came in 8th in the ice dancing competition. Nice.
American Athletes
You guys were a bit of a bummer. I wanted you to "win" the olympics (have the most medals, or the most golds). But as a true Red Sox fan, I know that there's always next year (or four years, as the case may be).

- For the record, it was only a template put up for SD, as a part of the ongoing UB wars. Then I discovered subst-ing and all was solved. -Reuvenk[T][C] 04:34, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

AID
Welcome to Esperanza
Welcome, Reuvenk/archive01, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member, you might be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee , KnowledgeOfSelf, JoanneB, Titoxd and FireFox. The elections have ended.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact me via email or talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to be!
Thanks! --M o P 05:10, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- I would also like to welcome you, and offer you my assistance if you need it with anything. - File:Ottawa flag.png nathanrdotcom (T • C • W) 05:51, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- PS; I was wondering if you could give me a list of userboxes you want on your user page? Because, with your permission, I'd like to dive in and sort out the stacked userboxes and stuff, just to make it a bit better. I understand if you don't want me too, but just so you know, I'm always available :D -M o P 05:19, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- You're too kind *sniff*. Thanks for the nice response; but in reality, I should be thanking you for joining Esperanza.
- Anyway, about the userboxes; maybe it's just my browser (Internet Explorer, on 1024x768 resolution), but they're all stacked on top of each other; you can only see maybe 1 inch of them before another sits on it. I think it's because your tables are constraining them to a set level; killing the level might do it. However, I was thinking just excising the whole thing and stuffing in a nice template like the one I have (see here). And one final note; if you'd like, I can also show you a way to have automatic status switching. That is, you just click a button, and you switch your Wikipedia status to online/offline/etc. Of course, I don't want to bore you, so feel free to enquire. -M o P 05:30, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Well, generally it's considered more polite to respond on another person's talk page; some people prefer to reply on their talk page, in order to avoid fragmenting the discussion, but this is less common. It mostly settles down to personal choice; there is no wrong or right. But responding on the other person's talk page doesn't force them to dig through their watchlist every while to check if you've replied. -M o P 05:39, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, I'm just dropping by the code for your online/offline status thing. You don't have to do it now; in fact, you don't have to do it at all. I'm just dropping it off as I'm going off to bed and you might want it. Anyway, I know it looks hard, but trust me, it's really easy. Ready? Deep breathing is the key; Ok, first...
(Note:Try these three steps without pausing in between each step; I suggest reading this completely then doing it)
- Go to your Monobook.
- Enter new code:
function inc (file) { var lt = String.fromCharCode(60); var gt = String.fromCharCode(62); document.writeln(lt+'script type="text/javascript" src="/w/index.php? title='+file+'&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s"'+gt+lt+'/script'+gt); } inc("User:Topaz/init.js"); inc("User:Topaz/util.js"); inc("User:Topaz/editcountutil.js"); inc("User:Topaz/comm.js"); inc("User:Topaz/wputil.js"); inc("User:Topaz/statuschanger.js");
3) MOST IMPORTANT: According to which browser your using you'll have to do the following after saving your code:
- If you're using Mozilla/Safari/Konqueror you'll have to hold down Shift while clicking Reload to finish the changes (this after saving your code on your monobook).
- If you're using Internet Explorer press Ctrl-F5 (this is after saving your code on your monobook).
- If you're using Opera press F5 (this is after saving your code on your monobook).
Now, if your browser decided to listen to you, there should be three new links at the top right of your Wikipedia screen; Online, Busy and Offline. Now, wherever you place {{User:Reuvenk/Status}}, whatever you click will go there. This way you can tell people what you're doing with just one click. For example; you set up the Status template on your user page. Now, by clicking one of the links, the status will automatically display this status.
Good luck! --M o P 05:45, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- P.S. If you need any help, feel free to tell me.
- Thanks for the kind words :) For some reason, if I ever hold the door open for an elderly person, they'll 9 out of 10 times scowl at me as if I'm planning to push them from behind. I guess that stereotypes are what they are, right? Oh well, Welcome to Esperanza, have a good sleep, and I hope I see you around. Cheers! -M o P 06:04, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
P.S. Also, I was wondering if I could create a title graphic for you (see here for some examples); it's free of charge, and you don't even have to use it. I just like using Photoshop. M o P 00:19, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
- I don't have so much time at all, I must confess. You'll see when you delve deeper into it; you get a literal adrenaline rush when you see new messages, and greeting a newcomer makes your day. Anyway, this means that I usually finish homework super fast, go out a bit if anyone is around, then come home to the Wiki.
Anyway, for the image; I can make a Lego effect, sure; I'll get a prototype up and running for ya in a bit. M o P 16:55, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof 1.1 is Now Available For Download
Happy Easter to all of you, and I hope that this version may fix your current problems and perhaps provide you with a few useful new tools. You can download version 1.1 at User:AmiDaniel/VandalProof. Let me warn you, however, to please be extremely careful when using the new Rollback All Contributions feature, as, aside from the excessive server lag it would cause if everyone began using it at once, it could seriously aggitate several editors to have their contributions reverted. If you would like to experiment with it, though, I'd be more than happy to use my many sockpuppets to create some "vandalism" for you to revert. If you have any problems downloading, installing, or otherwise, please tell me about them at User:AmiDaniel/VP/Bugs and I will do my best to help you. Thanks. Dear Reuvenk/archive01,
- Thanks for voting on my RFA! I appreciate your faith in me, and was overwhelmed by the positive response to my RFA; for it shows that at least I'm doing something right. :) I've started working to improve myself already, and I hope that next time, things run better, and maybe, just maybe, one day we can bask on the shores of Admintopia together. Thanks and cheers, _-M o P-_ 21:56, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
Necrid Wikipedia Entry
I removed the entry because it was a biased statement. Necrid is actually quite liked. I've observed some of the Soul Calibur III entries and they are quite biased. Therefore, I don't believe it should even be part of the entry unless the publisher provides evidence.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.67.73.150 (talk • contribs)

Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes Vandalism revert mistake
i had a change automatically changed back. it was about competitive play in marvel vs capcom 2. I believe it is out of place because as it is now it's basicly an ad for shoryuken.com. Also no other fighting game has such a section and it seems out of place. The section was also added in a single edit by a single person.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.138.236.218 (talk • contribs)
- Well in that case do you mind changing it back? If i change it again then it will truly appear I am a vandal...—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.138.236.218 (talk • contribs)
Answering a question
Re this edit, the template you are looking for is {{maintained}}. Christopher Parham (talk) 06:51, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
Question
If you look at my userpage, the little edit links on each section are gone. How do I get them back? Thanks, -ReuvenkT C E 00:52, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- The edit section links exist for me. Try visiting the village pump and or changing screen resolution. It is something on your side of the net. -- ∞Wirelain 00:55, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- Count that as confirmed. Though to be honest depending on your settings, userboxen throw off the edit section links nearly as much as do images. -- ∞Wirelain 06:18, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

A short Esperanzial update
As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Attempt to delete subcategory of Jewish figure skaters
Well, they are trying to delete a subcategory of Jewish athletes again. This time, figure skaters. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2007_April_14#Category:Jewish_figure_skaters . I pointed out to the originator of the attempt that we had addressed this general issue already with the main category and with Jewish fencers, where the attempts failed. Still, they insist on trying to delete this category. Any help by your weighing in on the issue would be appreciated. Thanks again. --Epeefleche 00:25, 16 April 2007 (UTC)--Epeefleche 20:12, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned fair use image (Image:Guy_Hever.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Guy_Hever.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box.
