Gender responsive treatment approaches can be utilized across the continuum of care for juvenile-justice system involved girls.
Research conducted by Walker et. al on gender responsive practices in the juvenile justice system identified several core areas in which gender responsive practices are being implemented in several jurisdictions in the United States. These include screening and assessment practices, family engagement, emphasizing a relational approach, safety, skills and strengths-based approach, and reentry and community connections.
