Born on 5th June, 1946 in a remote village called Yadakere, Hassan district. After his graduation, joined State Civil Services and served in various departments like State Excise Dept as Deputy Commissioner, Mysore state International Ltd as Executive Director, Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike as Deputy commissioner (Development) and as Director of Kannada and Culture. Retired in the year 2004. Most significant among them was Director of Kannada and Culture.

Influenced by the legendry Folk Singer Dr.S.K.Kareem Khan and the Pioneer of Sugama Sangeeth P.KalingaRao, Y.K.Muddukrishna developed his interest towards Theatre, Folk and Light Music at the age of ten

 Founded a cultural organisation called “Yuvaranga” in 1979, mainly to promote folk art and rural theatre

 Toured and led a musical troupe across the United States of America and presented concerts in light music in the years 1985, 1998, 2002, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012,2013. Performed to an enthralled audience at New York, Michigan, Baltimore, North Carolina, San Francisco, Florida, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Boston, Houston, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Connecticut, New Jersey, Molin, Chicago, Phoenix, Charleston Virginia, Washington DC, Indianapolis and many more places

 Participated and performed light music in the first ever “World Kannada Sammelana” held at Manchester, England in 1988

 Presented light music concerts in Dubai, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain in 2006

 Gave musical performance at the Kannada conference held at Singapore in 2010

 In the year 2012 participated in “Akka” world Kannada Conference as a performing artist and as chief Judge Akka Idol Competition.

 In the Year 2013, presented Sugama Sangeeth Concert under the banner of Kannada Koota Sydney Australia.

 In the year 2014, participated in Kannada Conference organized by UK Kannada Balaga at Chester Field, England.

 In the year 2015, led the troup of artist and participated in Sugama Sangeetha Sammelana held in Bangkok, Thailand, and Singapure.

 In April 2016, participated in Kannada conference organized by Bahrain Kannada Sangha.

 He has presented thousands of music programmes all over the country. Most important among them being performances at Mysore Dasara, Hampi Festival, Kittur Utsav, Karnataka Festival in Delhi, several All India Kannada

 Yuvaranga: Founded a cultural organisation called “Yuvaranga” in 1979, mainly to promote folk art and rural theatre

 Founder trustee Dhvani Sugama Sangeetha Kendra: Along with like minded artistes established a music foundation called “Dhwani Sugama Sangeetha Kendra” in 1991 for the promotion of light music in Karnataka and across the world.

 Kala Kshema: Established a charitable organisation called “Kala Kshema” in 2000 and created a corpus fund for the benefit of poor and needy artistes

 Karnataka Sugama Sangeetha Parishath: Became the founder President of “Karnataka Sugama Sangeetha Parishath” in 2000 with the sole objective to promote light music widely all over India and abroad. Thus responsible in bringing thousands of artistes in to the fold of Sugama Sangeeth through music workshops, seminars, concerts and festivals.

 Kannada Bhvana: The prestigious “Kannada Bhavana”, which today houses the Department of Culture and various Academies, is his brain child.

 Festivals: To his credit are the world famous “Hampi festival”, “Kadmbotsava”, “Kittur Utsav” and various District level cultural festivals

 Parks in Bangalore: Responsible for reviving and developing over 161 parks in his capacity as Deputy Commissioner (BBMP), Bangalore, to restore its glory of being the ‘Garden City’.

 Responsible for creating a platform for light music in the famous Mysore Dasara programmes and Kannada Sahithya Sammelanas, which till such time was not recognised on these forums

 Won accolades as the chief of Cultural Programmes for the 4th National Games held at Bengaluru in 1996. Was responsible for designing most attractive events by more than 8000 classical and folk artistes

 Created a World record in 1999 along with his long associate C.Ashwath by organising and presenting a unique singing programme titled “Manujamatha- Viswapatha” by 1000 singers marking a beginning to spread the universal message “One Religion One Path” through KUVEMPU’s revolutionary songs

 Conducted a unique musical journey called “Sangeetha Ratha Yatre” in over 18 places in Kasaragod, Kerala in 2000 for the culturally deprived Kannadigas.

 The Kalagrama in the campus of Bangalore University is the result of his concept.

 National Modern Art Gallery was established in Manikyavel Mansion Bangalore due to his initiative.
