North Country: The Making of Minnesota is a non-fiction book about the founding of the state Minnesota written by Saint Cloud State University associate professor of history Mary Lethert Wingerd. Rather than the popular narrative of Euro-American settler-focused history, Wingerd reinterprets sources with a focus on Dakota, Ojibwe, and other Native American perspectives and the interaction between Native and Euro-American peoples. The book was published in 2010 by the University of Minnesota Press.[1]
