Hi,
I am Peter Uetz, currently an Associate Professor at the Center for Biological Data Science (formerly Center for the Study of Biological Complexity), Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA (USA).
My research group works on protein function (in viruses, bacteria, phage, and eukaryote) as well as biodiversity.
As a tribute to (and solution for) the information deluge in science, I have founded the Reptile Database.
I am also interested in the relationship between science, society, and religion, given that superstition and anti-scientific notions are still rampant in most parts of the world. My contributions to Wikipedia usually circle around these areas.
Occasionally I also edit articles on the German Wikipedia.
Like many others, I get often frustrated with the zealots on Wikipedia who tell me that the copyright rules on Wikipedia are stricter than international copyright laws. Seriously? Even if they are stricter, that doesn't make them legal in terms of copyright, but it's certainly one of the most effective way to drive people into frustration and out of this wonderful project.
