How I've discovered Wikipedia and became interested in editing

[edit]

In circa 2018, I've discovered Wikipedia and was interested how there was so much information and how everything worked. In lockdown 2020, I've figured out that I could (or anyone could) edit Wikipedia articles. In 2021-2023, I've done research on some of the policies (not all of them) and looked at some Project pages. In early 2024, I've considered to become a contributor to Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons since I've noticed there was a lot of things that needed fixing on Wikipedia articles and more images needed to be added. In early April 2024, I've briefly edited as an IP address user for about 10 days. Finally on 19 April 2024, I've created this account and started editing Wikipedia. More information is in the next section.

What I've been working on at Wikipedia

[edit]

I've came a long way from editing Wikipedia. By mostly improving most articles for better user experience.

Starting off with simple editing by updating 99% of railway station articles in Victoria by making the captions more accurate and cleaner on 19-20 April 2024.

From 24 April 2024, I've started to edit more advanced articles (like history, culture and celebrities) on Wikipedia. In late April 2024, I've started to improve multiple Victorian transport related articles.

On 2 May 2024-31 July 2024, I've updated most articles on New South Wales railway stations by doing the same things on captions like what I did on Victoria railway stations. On 6-7 May 2024, I've started to better describe the image by slightly improving some captions (not all) on some railway stations in Victoria.

On 4 May 2024, I've overhauled one of the sections in V/Line VLocity, more specifically here. By adding additional content and fixing up the spelling, grammar and tone.

On 8 May 2024, I've started to upload my own images of railway stations or other transport related content to Wikimedia Commons and update some outdated images on articles and add some long awaited images to articles on Wikipedia–more specifically Victorian or other countries I've visited of transport related content images taken by me.

From 6 May 2024, I've started to frequently update railway station that were months, weeks or days away from being rebuilt by the LXRP, by adding additional content supported by reliable sources. Articles included are Pakenham station, East Pakenham station, Ringwood East station, Croydon station, Parkdale station and Keon Park station.

On 20-29 May 2024, I've frequently updated and improved the 2024 Varzaqan helicopter crash, which unfortunately very sadly the Former president of Iran Ebrahim Raisi was killed on, also updated his article with minor updates. I've added additional information, removed irrelevant content and upgrade the overall article and user experience (mostly).

On 1 June 2024, I've updated most Melbourne tram route articles by adding a short description like what other articles have, which is mostly a standard feature to articles.

On 27 May 2024-3 June 2024, I've updated every railway station on the Pakenham line in Melbourne to accomodate its new terminus, East Pakenham.

On 17 June 2024-10 July 2024, I've updated some articles on United Kingdom related content, mostly railway stations in England and Scotland.

On 3-8 July 2024, I've updated articles about political related content in the United Kingdom. I've helped update articles as such Keir Starmer, Rishi Sunak and more related to the 2024 UK prime minister election.

On 13-22 July 2024, I've frequently updated article Attempted assassination of Donald Trump by making sure all the contents were accurate and change some content within the request on talk pages.

On 23 July 2024-Now, I'm currently improving most railway station articles in Victoria of the lead and rewriting it and making it to meet Wikipedia's policies.

On 30 July 2024-5 August 2024, I've updated every suburban railway stations in Adelaide with improving the captions and adding captions.

From 8 August 2024, I've started to fight off vandalism or bad faith edits on Wikipedia by patrolling recent changes by using Twinkle (an online tool used on Wikipedia).

Barnstars and Awards

The Original Barnstar
For your great work on Australian railway stations and vandalism patrolling. Theroadislong (talk) 12:15, 1 October 2024 (UTC)

The name "PEPSI697"

[edit]

So how did I get that name? I just thought of it when I created this account.

Why I chose that name? Based on one of my favourite drinks, Pepsi.

What about Coke? It's also on my tier list for my favourite drinks too, they both taste good.

Q + A's

[edit]

Note that this is for only Wikipedia related questions

Q. Why do I regularly update articles? Especially transport related stuff?

A. Because I maintain information to keep the article status nice, clear and good. I also make sure the image captions are accurate, clean, easier to read, making sure it describes the features seen in the images and make them short as possible.

Regarding this question, I also restore old images formerly used in info-boxes or what I found on Wikimedia Commons to place them in Gallery, lead or other sections to show people of what the station looked like back in the day or over the years.

Q. What type of articles do I edit on?

A. I mainly update articles on railway stations in Australia, public transport in Australia, trains, trams around the world, recently deceased celebrities, celebrities, politicians, prime minister elections etc.

Published question will be continued soon once I have the time too.

Q. Why do I update images on some articles?

A. Because I improve Wikipedia for an enhanced user experience of updating train station images, landmarks etc. I don't always change the info-box image but only needed to if I have a better image I could show up on. If the image isn't so great for info-box, I put it in other sections or the bottom lead and keep the existing info-box image. But for train stations, I update them not because I feel like they deserve to be there, It's because I am trying to improve and help fix Wikipedia. As per response from talk page.

Q. Which type of device do I edit Wikipedia on?

A. If you go to my contributions, you'll see tags underneath that says "Mobile edit" or "Mobile web edit", I edit Wikipedia from an Apple iPhone.

Q. Can I also edit on desktop version of Wikipedia or know how to edit on Desktop Wikipedia?

A. Yes, I do know how to edit on desktop Wikipedia or on a personal computer device. However, I always edited on Mobile Wikipedia and preferred that imo.
