Geschichte

Die beiden Cousins Vincent Waizenegger und Robin Schmid aus der baden-württembergischen Gemeinde Vogt im Landkreis Ravensburg machten unter dem Namen Twice schon länger gemeinsam Musik. 2012 kam der dritte Cousin Moritz Bösing dazu und der Name wurde in Provinz geändert. Der Schlagzeuger Leon Sennewald, mit dem Waizenegger gemeinsam 2018 in Ravensburg sein Abitur ablegte, stieß 2017 dazu. Die Band nahm am Förderwettbewerb Bandpool der Mannheimer Popakademie teil und kam darüber in Kontakt mit Plattenfirmen.

Provinz unterschrieb daraufhin 2019 einen Plattenvertrag beim Major-Label Warner Music. Im März 2019 erschien die erste Single Neonlicht. Am 3. Mai 2019 wurde die erste EP Reicht dir das veröffentlicht, die neben dem gleichnamigen Titelsong die drei weiteren Stücke Neonlicht, Was uns high macht und Zu jung beinhaltete. Aufgenommen wurde die EP in den Hansa Studios in Berlin von Produzent Tim Tautorat, der unter anderem auch AnnenMayKantereit und Faber produzierte. Es folgten Auftritte bei größeren Festivals wie dem KOSMOS in Chemnitz und dem Reeperbahnfestival sowie ein Fernsehauftritt bei Inas Nacht.

Das Debütalbum Wir bauten uns Amerika – zunächst angekündigt für den 17. April 2020, dann verschoben auf den 14. August, wurde schließlich am 17. Juli 2020 veröffentlicht. Als erste Vorab-Single erschien im Oktober 2019 der Song Augen sind rot, mit dem Provinz unter anderem in der Fernsehsendung Late Night Berlin auf ProSieben auftraten.

The two cousins Vincent Waizenegger and Robin Schmid from the municipality of Vogt in the Ravensburg district (1) of Baden-Württemberg had been making music together for some time under the name Twice. In 2012, their third cousin Moritz Bösing joined them,(2) and the name was changed to Provinz (3). Drummer Leon Sennewald, who graduated from high school with Waizenegger in Ravensburg in 2018, joined in 2017. The band participated in the Bandpool support competition (4) of the Mannheim Pop Academy, through which they came into contact with record companies.

Provinz subsequently signed a record deal with the major label Warner Music in 2019. In March 2019, their first single, "Neonlicht"(Neon light)5) was released. On May 3, 2019, their first EP, "Reicht dir das" (Is that enough for you) was released, which included the title track and three other songs: "Neonlicht", "Was uns high macht" (What gets us high), and "Zu jung" (Too young). The EP was recorded at the Hansa Studios in Berlin by producer Tim Tautorat, who has also produced for AnnenMayKantereit and Faber (both famous German and Swiss musicians), among others. This was followed by performances at larger festivals such as KOSMOS in Chemnitz and the Reeperbahn Festival, as well as a TV appearance on Inas Nacht (a German Late Night Show).

The debut album "Wir bauten uns Amerika" (We built ourselves America) – initially announced for April 17, 2020, then postponed to August 14 – was finally released on July 17, 2020. The first pre-release single, "Augen sind rot"(Eyes are red) was released in October 2019, and Provinz performed it on the TV show Late Night Berlin on ProSieben.

Comments 1) "the Ravensburg district" sounds rather unidiomatic to me, maybe you could put the information in a relative clause, e.g. The two cousins Vicent... are both from the municipality of Vogt, which is part of the district Ravensburg in Baden-Württemberg? However, then you have to explain in a second sentence that they've been making music together. Also, you used the past perfect progressive, but my gut feeling tells me to use the present perfect progressive, as they have been music together, but they are in a band together to this day? 2) I don't think the comma is necessary 3) I think it would be nice to have a possible translation of "Provinz" 4) I am not sure whether someone would understand the term "support competition", but I did not find a better word as well. However, maybe one could paraphrase it and explain that it was a competition which aimed to support bands 5) I'd put a comma after neon light :)

Also, I noticed that we both use different styles when talking about dates. Maybe we can agree on one.

Section 2

Zwei Touren im Frühjahr und Herbst mussten 2020 genauso wie einige größere Festival-Auftritte aufgrund der Covid-19-Pandemie abgesagt werden. Dennoch erreichte das Album Platz 4 in den deutschen Album-Charts. Die Band gewann 2020 die 1 Live Krone als bester Newcomer.

Im Sommer 2021 veröffentlichten Provinz die EP Zu spät um umzudrehen mit fünf neuen Songs, für die sie unter anderem erneut mit Tautorat aber auch mit dem Musiker und Produzenten Fayzen zusammen arbeiteten, darunter die auch als Single ausgekoppelten Hymne gegen euch und Großstadt. Kurz darauf erschien zudem der Song Liebe zu dritt gemeinsam mit Majan und Jeremias, mit dem sie erstmals die Singlecharts erreichten. Ende 2021 fand dann die verschobene Wir bauten euch Amerika-Tour statt. 2021 gewannen Provinz die 1 Live Krone als beste Band und waren nominiert als Best German Act bei den MTV Europe Music Awards. Im Frühjahr 2022 ist eine weitere Tour geplant.

Am 16. September 2022 erschien das zweite Album namens Zorn & Liebe. Die gleichnamige Vorab-Single mit der Sängerin Nina Chuba erschien bereits im Februar 2022 und erreichte ebenfalls die Singlecharts. Als weitere Singles wurden vorab Verrate deine Freunde, Spring, 17 für immer und Unsere Bank (gemeinsam mit Danger Dan) veröffentlicht.

In spring and autumn 2020, two tours as well as several bigger festival performances had to be called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, their album reached 4th place at the German album charts in the same year. The band also won the German music award "1 Live Krone" by the radio show "1LIVE" as best newcomer.

In summer 2021, Provinz published the EP Zu spät um umzudrehen (English: Too late to turn around) with five new songs. In the process of creating these songs, they once again worked, among other people, with the German music producer Tautorat, but also with the musician and producer Fayzen. Of these songs, "Großstadt" (big city) and "Hymne gegen euch" (Hymn against you) were also released as singles. Shortly afterwards, Provinz collaborated with the rapper Majan and the band Jeremias. Together they published the song "Liebe zu dritt (Love as a threesome). With this song, the band reached the singles chart for the first time. Their postponed tour called "Wir bauten euch Amerika" (English: We built you America) then took place at the end of 2021. In the same year, Provinz won the award "1 LIVE Krone" as best band. In addition to that, they were nominated as Best German Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Due to the COVID-19-pandemic they had to postpone another tour which was planned to be in spring 2022. The tour then took place in autumn 2022.

On 16 September 2022, their second album called "Zorn & Liebe" (English: anger & love) was released. The pre-release single of the same name in collaboriation with the German singer Nina Chuba has already been released in Februrary 2022 and it reached the singles chart as well. The songs "Verrate deine Freunde" (Betray your friends), "Spring" (Jump), "17 für immer" (forever 17) and "Unsere Bank" (Our bench, in collaboration with Danger Dan) were also published as singles beforehand.

Comments: I would take out the "the" before words like musician or rapper. But that might just be personal preference. Regarding dates I am going to adapt your style.
