Kundan Kumar, Film Director and Producer is one of the most renowned Film Director from late fifties. He was born in Varanasi, India. His nephew by name Kundan Singh Chawhan from New Delhi has been his inspiration to start his career in Film Industry. Kundan Kumar directed and produced a number of Hindi & Bhojpuri films. In 1960s the first President of India Rajendra Prasad who hailed from Bihar asked Film Producer Bhiswanath Prasad to produce Bhojpuri Films. Kundan Kumar directed the first film Ganga Maiyya tohe piyari Chadhaibo in 1963 starting the history for Bhojpuri films. 1965 directed Kundan Kumar another Bhojpuri film Ganga. Both the films became hit for their time. Kundan Kumar has directed and produced a number of hit films like, Aulad, Anokhi Ada, Laagi Nahi Chute Ram, Raj Sinhasan. Film Star Rekha was given chance to act in Hindi Films by Kundan Kumar. His favourite actors who acted in his films were Jeetendra, Sujit Kumar, Helen, Mukri, Babita Kapoor, & Rekha. He died unfortunately in February 1979 of sudden heart attack. His son Kishore Kumar lives in Mumbai.
