LGBT (or variations thereupon) is a cultural movement and community centered around marginalized sexualities and gender identities, which came to prominence in the 20th century. LGBT is an initialism umbrella term that stands for "lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender" but typically applies to a larger inter-connected community that also includes intersex people, asexual, aromantic, and agender people, and anyone who identifies as queer. Expanded variants of the term such as LGBTQIA+ are commonly used to signify this expansion of the community.
