To start with, I am going to remove wikilinks for all lakes with multiple names. I know these require special handling. So for example in the page I copied this from, there are wikilinks to Mud Lake, but I know I need special handling for the various Mud Lake entries. Then I will wikilink the rest and see if it they can be disambiguated with just a "(Wisconsin)" suffix. If so, I will just leave that and let someone else worry about whether there is another lake of that name elsewhere in the state. If the "(Wisconsin)" suffix is insufficient, then will make the suffix "(Lincoln County, Wisconsin)".

Then when all that is done, will go back to the multiple name lakes and nail them down according to location (town).

Overview

[edit]

According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources database, access in February 2013, Lincoln County has 154 named lakes, ponds, sloughs and flowages. Of these 59 have public access, including all of the largest lakes. The largest lakes with no public access are Clear Lake, Bass Lake (Harrison), Skanawan Lake and Road Lake. However, even private access lakes often have commercial resorts and lodges via which access may be obtained.

Lincoln County also contains many unnamed lakes with no public access. Three of these are over ten acres:
