[edit]Speedy delete
[edit]Hi, K50 Dude. I marked the article for speedy deletion because I did not think it was notable per A7, which means I did not think it was a notable person. Looking into it, it should be fine for the article to say up, and the admin removed the speedy. Sorry for the confusion. Rtyq2 (talk) 03:55, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Titleist logo
[edit]The logo is a registered trademark of an therefore the property of Titleist. Converting an image into PNG format does not give anyone the rights to distribute it freely. Blatant copyright violation.
The licensing has now been changed to "non-free logo", by User:Eastmain, although I would still contest that is of an unnecessary high resolution for the purpose. Thanks for your input. bigissue (talk) 15:39, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Christina Aguilera's forthcoming album
[edit]It wasn't advertising, and I think someone just typed the wrong number. The article needed to be deleted because it was a reposting of previously deleted material (see the discussion at WP:Articles for deletion/Christina Aguilera's forthcoming album (2nd nomination)), and nothing has changed since that deletion. Once the album has a title, tracklist, and release date, it can be recreated under its real name.—Kww(talk) 23:56, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 00:14, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Latvian Centre for Human Rights
[edit]- The page definitely doesn't meet CSD:A1 mentioned by nominator. Quoting the criteria: "No context. Very short articles lacking sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. Example: "He is a funny man with a red car. He makes people laugh."" It is clearly shown in the article what it is about - a human rights NGO in Latvia.
- Besides, it's worth mentioning that the subject of this article obviously meets notability criteria. It exists already in two other wikis (lv: , ru:). The organization has got at least two high awards in its field - so, van der Stoel award, established in 2001 by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, is awarded by jury, chaired by the OSCE High Commissioner OSCE High Commuissioner on National Minorities. The EU-US Democracy and Civil Society Award is significant, too.Aleksandrs Kuzmins (talk) 18:29, 23 November 2008 (UTC) P.S. The text above is left on the article's talk page. Besides, I'm planning to expand the article.Aleksandrs Kuzmins (talk) 18:32, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit]I don't recall the article in question, as it has already been deleted. If you disagreed with the speedy deletion nomination you were within your rights 1) to contest the nomination by placing a {{hangon}} tag, and explaining your reasons in the talk page, or 2) to simply remove the nomination if you were not the page's primary author. However, I only nominated the article; it took the agreement of an administrator to remove the article. And yes, articles with {{underconstruction}} tags are speedied all the time. The reason is that it is often clear right from the outset that the author is writing about a non-notable subject. If you were the page's author, and intended to expand the article further to assert notability, you would do well to perform such construction in your own user space rather than in the main article space. [edit]Gawkk
[edit]Thanks for the heads up - it was much appreciated. I saw your edit and have no issue with it. I was somewhat on the fence about leaving it in the first place. Thanks again for your message and enjoy your day/evening/etc. ttonyb1 (talk) 06:07, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Your RfA
[edit]Hi
Following up on what I said at your RfA, if you tag an article as WP:CSD#A1 no context it has to be impossible to identify the subject of the article. The article at the time had a descriptive name and a website link, which made the subject of the article perfectly clear.
I saw many things that I liked when I looked at your contributions, including your handling of Gawkk and you approaching Ttonyb1 and discussing it with him. However, due to your comparatively low level of experience in administrative areas and contributions altogether your RfA is not going to pass at this time. To give you a rough number, Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/nominate currently suggests to have at least 2,000 edits.
Cheers, Amalthea 00:43, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- Hello there K50 Dude, your RFA has just been closed per WP:NOTNOW by User:Balloonman. Your eagerness to help with administrative tasks is appreciated, however, administrators are expected to have significant experience in many different areas and while editcount is not a particularly accurate measure of experience RfA candidates should have far more than 250 edits. The general feeling at WT:RFA right now is that a candidate should have at least 1000-2000 edits (although just having a few thousand edits is not an automatic qualifier and many candidates with tens of thousands of edits have had been unsuccessful). If you intend to submit another RfA sometime in the future please carefully review Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship and perhaps consider an editor review or admin coaching. Your RfA
[edit](ec)Hi K50 Dude, I just wanted to drop you a line that I closed your RfA WP:NOTNOW. This should not be taken in a negative manner and I encourage you to continue to help developing Wikipedia. But nobody has passed an RfA with fewer than 2K edits in about 3 years, and expectations are even greater today. Again, do not take this personally, please continue your work here at WP, and when you gain more experience, we will be happy to review you again.---Balloonman PoppaBalloon 01:23, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
Sig
[edit]Hey, K50 Dude. Could you please tone down your signature a bit? Unfortunately, the large size effects surrounding text and spacing. In fact, the <font size="+1"> code in your signature creates text larger than the <big> tag, which is specifically mentioned at WP:SIG as something to avoid. Keep up the good work. Thanks, and happy editing! - auburnpilot talk 01:35, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi K50. Regarding this I'm sorry if you took offence. You clearly didn't understand the link - I gather from your user page you live in the US. Jimmy Savile was famous in the 1980's in the old country for saying "Now then, Now then" (c.f. Jimmy_Savile#Catchphrases_and_appearance). Your questioning of my civility seems a little odd if you'd bothered to check the link. It was simply a light hearted remark, as indicated by the smiley. Again, apolgies if you think this was incivil. Pedro : Chat 22:13, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note. Regarding sig's the best thing is to find one you like and look at the code then "adopt" it to your own stile (there are several people who use variations on mine, and it was a variation on someone elses! You can set it up in "your preferences" (remember to check the "raw signature" box). Pedro : Chat 07:47, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
London City Airport
[edit]London City is an airport in the UK. The UK convention for dates is to place the day before the month. Is there a reason why the UK convention cannot be used for an article about something in the UK whose audience is likely to be resident in the UK ? Pmbma (talk) 02:43, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Pmbma
Found the reference I was looking for - hope this helps - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOS:DATE#Strong_national_ties_to_a_topic
- Thank you very much Pmbma; I was a bit unaware of that. I am a learning Wikipedian and thank you for your help (and reverting it). That won't be happening again. My mistake! Thanks again, and have a nice day. K50 Dude ROCKS! 05:29, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hi,
Please can you explain why I, as a London resident, cannot make the decision about whether to include bands, and members of bands on Wikipedia? I am specifically trying to keep track of a couple of London bands, and their various projects.
Of course, should I be doing anything wrong, please let me know - I'm quite new to this. I understand band members might be on stubs rather than wiki pages, in which case I would like some help converting them.
Thanks,
Humbug Humbug66 (talk) 15:50, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- I removed the tag because it does show a bit of significance, I just want to get help (hence the HELPME! at the top of the page) too. I am a bit new (a BIT new). K50 Dude ROCKS! 16:00, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
WP:ORE welcome
[edit]Welcome to WikiProject Oregon! If you'd like, you can add the WP Oregon userbox to your user page using this code: {{User WikiProject Oregon}}
. Check out the ongoing and archived discussions at WT:ORE and be sure to add the page to your Watchlist. If you are new to Wikipedia, it's a good idea to browse through the core principles of Wikipedia as well. The project home page at WP:ORE has many useful links to get you started. The recent changes and recent discussions links will display recent edits on articles within the project's scope. Welcome! —EncMstr (talk) 02:58, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Guide to speedy deletion
[edit]Hi. I saw your Essay on speedy deletion. You may be interested in this guide written by someone who has since left the project. Kind regards, --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 21:16, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Cool! I'll read thru parts of that...in case you were wondering, my essay is not my runoff of that (I never knew it existed!), but actually more of MY reference to when I speedy delete. I like doing things like that in my own words, however I am glad you let me know of that. Give yourself a cookie! K50 Dude ROCKS! 00:51, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Happy New COTW
[edit]Greetings from WikiProject Oregon’s Collaboration of the Week. First off, thank you to everyone who has done work the last few weeks on the last two COTWs. This week we have by request Oregon and California Railroad, part of the lands involved in the Oregon Land Fraud Scandal. Then as part of the Stub elimination drive, we have longtime politician Grattan Kerans, which hopefully can be turned into a nice DYK entry. As always, click here to opt out of these messages, or click here to make a suggestion for a future COTW. Aboutmovies (talk) 10:30, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

RfA thankspam
[edit]Thank you for your participation in my recent RfA, which failed with 90/38/3; whether you supported, opposed or remained neutral.
Special thanks go out to Moreschi, Dougweller and Frank for nominating me, and I will try to take everyone's comments on board. Thanks again for your participation. I am currently concentrating my efforts on the Wikification WikiProject. It's fun! Please visit the project and wikify a few articles to help clear the backlog. If you can recruit some more participants, then even better. Apologies if you don't like RfA thankspam, this message was delivered by a bot which can't tell whether you want it or not. Feel free to remove it. Itsmejudith (talk), 22:46, 21 January 2009 (UTC) |

[edit]Your editnotice
[edit]Hello K50 Dude. I noticed that on your edit notice page for your userpage, here, you say "This is MY personal page, you know!". I'm sure you are aware of this, but I just wanted to make sure that you knew that 'your' userpage doesn't really belong to you, in a similar way to which no-one owns articles. I'm sure you know this, I just wanted you to know that your edit notice doesn't reflect that. Cheers! » \ / (⁂) 11:36, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- I feel like I have made so many mistakes recently... It's so good there are people like you to correct me! Thanks a lot for letting me know about that... I have changed it to saying it is KIND OF my page instead of acting like a "yeller" because userpages do belong to the user (but still doesn't mean it is owned by them). Thanks again! RFA question
[edit]Hi K50 Dude, in case you don't check it again, I have asked a question about your oppose at my RFA. No badgering; just wanted to understand it better. :) Thanks, Somno (talk) 02:52, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- Another way you can see info about someone's new page patrolling is through the logs, e.g. here. Blue ones I marked as patrolled; there you can see if I improved or tagged the articles or just marked them as patrolled. Red ones were deleted, probably through a speedy or prod tag, but they weren't all tagged by me. Sometimes I come across articles that others have already tagged for speedy deletion but not marked as patrolled, and I just mark those patrolled so other NPPers don't waste time checking it. Anyway, looking at the blue links can give useful insights into someone's new page patrolling, so there's another way of looking at contributions for next time. You can get to the NPP logs through viewing the user's contributions, clicking logs, and clicking "Show patrol logs". Apologies if you already know this, but I figured there'd be no harm in explaining it. :) Somno (talk) 05:14, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
