Catégorie:Article utilisant une Infobox The route nationale 97, or RN 97, is a former french Route Nationale, connecting Toulon to Le Luc. It runs alongside the A57.
History
[edit]The route nationale 97 was created in 1824, connecting Toulon à Antibes, superceding the route impériale <abbr about="#mwt9" class="abbr" data-cx="[{"adapted":true,"partial":false,"targetExists":true,"mandatoryTargetParams":[],"optionalTargetParams":[]}]" data-mw="{"parts":[{"template":{"target":{"wt":"Numero","href":"./Template:Numero"},"params":{"1":{"wt":"116"}},"i":0}}]}" data-ve-no-generated-contents="true" id="mwFQ" title="numéro" typeof="mw:Transclusion">no</abbr><span about="#mwt9" data-ve-ignore="true" typeof="mw:Entity"> </span><span about="#mwt9" data-ve-ignore="true">116</span> (Toulon to Antibes).
Since the reform of 1930's, the section from Le Luc to Antibes now belongs to the Route National 7.
The décret of 5 décembre 2005 removed route national status from the road. The result was the road being passed entirely to the management of the department of Var.
Route
[edit]The places served by the route are:
- Toulon (km 0). The route finds its origin at Noël-Blache, then serves the roundabout of Bir-Hakeim and the neighbourhoods of Saint-Jean-du-Var, Brunet, Font-Pré et la Pivotte, before arriving at Beaulieu, where it turns towards the A57. On meeting the A57, it merges until the Junction at Tombadou, whilst the old section towards La Valette is named RD 246.
- La Valette-du-Var (km 5) : Merged section with the Autoroute A57 between junctions 3 and 5. The old section of the RN 97 takes the name of RD 246 during the passing of the village;
- La Garde, at the hamlet of La Pierre-Ronde (km 7) ;
- La Farlède (km 11). At the entrance of the town centre, the eastern pass retakes the number RN 97. This section crosses la rue de la Gare (km 11), and joins the RD 258 at the northern side of the town, close to the hamlets of Daix and Les Mauniers. The old section of the RN 97, which was routed via the avenue de la République was not renumbered.
- Solliès-Ville (km 14), at the hamlet of Le Logis-Neuf ;
- Solliès-Pont, Another merged section with the A57 between Le Logis-Neuf (the former terminus of the route) and Junction 7, which has a speed restriciton of 90km/h (56mph), before serving Les Terrins, La Poulasse, Sainte-christine and La Tousque ;
- Cuers (km 22). The eastern passage of the village (now part of the l'A57 between Junctions 9 and 10) was numbered N97bis, before its absorbtion with the Autoroute in 1993 (Cuers - Le Cannet). The RN 97 formerly recommenced at this terminal point, and this can still be seen today as the current RD 97 passes under the double-roundabout at Les Défens - North. The newer A57 extention bypasses this infrastructure, slightly to the south;
- Puget-Ville (km 30). Passing the south of the village, the RN97 would have passed the village centre, but has since lost it's numbered status, except the corssing between the coopérative and the church, where it becomes nammed the RD 12 ;
- Carnoules (km 35) ;
- Pignans (km 38). The same concept as seen in Puget-Ville, but the old section takes the number RD 278 instead ;
- Gonfaron (km 43) ;
- Le Luc (km 53).
