Unsourced categories
Please do not add a category to an article unless there is a cited statement in the article from a reliable source to support the category. It violates Wikipedia's policy of verifiability. In the case of the category "Psychedelic advocates and proponents", it also violates Wikipedia's policies on biographies of living people. Just because a musician has performed psychodelic music doesn't make that person a "psychedelic advocate and proponent", and it could be construed as defamatory. The country singer Kenny Rogers sang a psychedelic song with one of his old groups, The First Edition. He is hardly a "psychedelic advocate". Thank you. Ward3001 (talk) 23:16, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
RE: Hello
I suggest you read some of The Beatles comments regarding LSD, especially Paul McCartney and George Harrison, thank you. Sir Richardson (talk) 13:01, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- I suggest you read WP:V, WP:RS, WP:BLP, and WP:CITE. I also suggest that you add a sourced, cited statement from a reliable source to confirm a category before adding the category. I suggest you follow Wikipedia's policies. I suggest that you be aware that "the threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiablity, not truth". I suggest that you realize that this is an encylcopedia, not a blog, not your personal website, and not a place where someone can post anything he pleases because he read something somewhere. Thank you. Ward3001 (talk) 00:03, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Category:Bands with fictional stage personas
Would you please explain how The Beatles fit into this category? Thank you. Ward3001 (talk) 20:08, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- OK, now I see your question on the talk page. But now there's another problem. The usual procedure is to discuss first, then make the edit. I'm reverting until there is some sort of agreement about how this should be handled. Thanks. Ward3001 (talk) 20:10, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:LPUK Logo.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:LPUK Logo.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 22:37, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Good article nominations
Please be aware that involved editors should not review good article nominations, especially the nominator. The article was left on the good article nomination page and I wrote a failing review for the article. Hello
Nice to meet you Sir Richardson. At first thought I am encouraged by someone of such a young age being driven to take part in such an intellectually rigorous project. I have seen you making several additions to Che Guevara, an article where I have been actively involved for quite sometime. Thus I figured that a formal introduction could be beneficial as I hope you stay around and lend your efforts and input. If you have a deeper genuine interest in the subject matter, I would be more than happy to point you towards additional sources or even send you some of the varying articles I have access to through my University professorial database. In addition, if you are curious of my rationale for a particular edit, or dispute any action I take, then please feel free to let me know. Keep in touch. Redthoreau (talk)RT 18:54, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
July 2009
Please do not add content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did to Kurt Cobain. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you.-5- (talk) 23:31, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
The information is fine as long as there are references for it. Feel free to add the information again, but try to make sure you have some reliable sources to go along with it.-5- (talk) 01:00, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Musical genres
I clean up a lot of genre disagreements. I should probably not assume that all genre changes belong in the "bad Wikipedian" catagory. I don't doubt that your additions were good faith edits. and I apologise for the "troll" title that I bestowed upon you. It's preferable to discuss any changes or additions that you feel should be made at a given article's talk page. Radiopathy •talk• 04:38, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
GA reassessment of Kurt Cobain
I have conducted a reassessment of the above article as part of the GA Sweeps process. I have found some concerns with the referencing which you can see at Talk:Kurt Cobain/GA1. I have placed the article on hold whilst these are fixed. Thanks. Jezhotwells (talk) 16:38, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
GA review of Che Guevara
I am reviewing Che Guevara under the GA criteria at Talk:Che Guevara/GA1 it will be a couple of days before the review is well under way. The article looks good and I don't expect you will need to make substantial improvements.·Maunus·ƛ· 22:57, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
- The review was quicker than I thought. I invite you to visit the review page the only changes I have requested untill now are a couple of paragraphs that needs sourcing.·Maunus·ƛ·
- Your recent edits show that you have noted my comments at the GA review. However merely cutting the weasly phrases doesn't entirely solve the problem. The statements still need to be sourced. ·Maunus·ƛ· 23:46, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Purpose behind image?
Hey Sir Richardson. I can't seem to figure out what purpose this image is supposed to serve. All it looks like you have done is darken the image, and made the resolution much poorer. What exactly are you trying to convey with with this picture? Thanks. Redthoreau (talk)RT 07:11, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
- I attempted to make an image of a higher quality. I guess I failed. Jacob Richardson (talk) 12:35, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi Sir Richardson,
Although I'm sure you've done it in good faith,, but would it be possible for you to remove/revert some of the flag icons you've been adding to various "people" articles? They are the flags of countries and states rather than ethnic groups and nationalities. This is also covered our policy at WP:MOSFLAG. As an example, British Chinese shouldn't have the Union and Chinese state flags as both the British and Chinese peoples could reject British and Chinese identity, and instead identify as English-Uyghur. --Jza84 | Talk 22:15, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
Swiss American
You seem to be an established, trustworthy editor, which is why I'm not slapping you with a {{uw-vandalism}}, but what's going on here? You introduced all manner of misspellings and wrong numbers to the article Swiss American. +Angr 05:52, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
- I know you're not a vandal, but take a look at the diff. How did that happen? Even a cat jumping on your keyboard wouldn't have caused that! :-) +Angr 06:06, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Hitchens
I see you edit Hitchens alot (note:you can preview post before sending it hence no need for multiple posts).. as regards his nationality, he specifically identifies himself as English as stated in interviews, while he carries dual British/American citizenship. I have reverted your edits here for a second time. We do not regard blogs as reliable sources and particularly not when WP:BLP concerns exist. Please don't replace it without citing a reliable source. Thanks. Rodhullandemu 14:20, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
August 2009
Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living persons, as you did to British National Front. Thank you. Please see my talk page. WP:BLP applies here, and you are adding unsourced controversial information, which will continue to be removed. In what way is Owens a "prominent" BNP member apart from his court case, and what does this tell the reader about the BNP? *Nothing* is the answer. Rodhullandemu 14:35, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Hitchens media index
I just noticed this edit of yours to the Christopher Hitchens article where you mentioned his bloggingheads appearance (where, by the way, you still need to fix the citation so it shows up as more than an unlabeled external link in the references section). Besides not knowing about the bloggingheads video (which, it turns out, is also on YouTube where it should have been easy to find), I just today discovered the video of a 2004 debate of his with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach (long predating their 2008 debate at the 92nd St. Y), and here I thought I had tracked down all his atheism debates. Do you know of any index of material to help track all of his audio and video material? -- ToET 14:09, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
I've no problem with what is going on with the article, and I have made a couple of edits there and will do so again in the future, but I was really trying above to ask one specific question. Do you know of any comprehensive list of the various Audio and Video Hitchens recordings that are out there? -- ToET 17:14, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

George Orwell
I appreciate that you are acting in good faith, but it is best if featured articles are nominated by people who have worked closely on them. In this way, they can give reasoned replies to reviewers and be familiar enough with the sources to act on suggested improvements. Someone who has not worked on the article can not provide this input, so the nomination may continue until opposition to it becomes so overwhelming that the article is failed; this takes away time from reviewers. While the George Orwell article is of reasonable quality, it is not yet of featured quality, and principal contributors must be consulted before a nomination, as required in the featured article candidate instructions. Dabomb87 (talk) 05:30, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
Adding Cats
Hi, when you add cats (teetotalers) do you have a citation for adding them , or are the details already in the article? Off2riorob (talk) 22:20, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

The French American article
Excluding Jim Carrey from that list seems very POV, since the article clearly states that French Canadians who identifies as Americans is French Americans. Hi there. I've reverted back to the low resolution version of the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover. High resolution images covered by copyright are likely not acceptable under fair-use provisions. Wikipedia's guidelines state that only low resolution album cover artwork is acceptable.

Hi, I've started reviewing this article at Talk:Anarchism/GA1. It's nearly two months since you nominated it and I'm wanting to check on your avalailability to work on it. File source problem with File:GuerrilleroHeroico2.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:GuerrilleroHeroico2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:32, 18 January 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. I only know you from your compliment of the Edward Said article. But I wonder if you wouldn't be able to help me, or maybe direct me towards help regarding another issue. There is a category being discussed for deletion, and I believe two editors have made the issue personal, nominating for deletion two other related categories, before this one has even been decided upon. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Vliet (canal), and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Vliet. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

File permission problem with File:File-Kerouac by Palumbo 2.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:File-Kerouac by Palumbo 2.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Liberal Democrats
When I was chairman of my local party during the Alliance in 1987, we had material from Cowley Street saying the yellow to be used was Pantone 109. Not a RS, I know, but I doubt anyone would contradict this. Rodhullandemu 19:09, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
Please use an edit summary
Hi Sir Richardson, I have noticed that you seldomly use an edit summary. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Frank Zappa. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit. It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. DVdm (talk) 18:06, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I noticed your revert and I agree. The thing is mentioned in the article as well. Now that was a top class edit ummary. Please don't stop now :-)
Keep up the good work on Beefhaert. Thanks and cheers - DVdm (talk) 20:20, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:02, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
W. S. Burroughs
Hello, as you are an editor who has done a lot of work (good work, I might add) to the Burroughs article, I want to bring something to your attention. I recently began work on a "Burroughs in popular culture" article, which you can find here. I would like to hear any suggestions you might want to make. I believe there is more than enough information on his influence to justify a separate article, as long as it is done well. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 22:49, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Re: Burroughs
I am glad to help in any way I can. I am currently reading Ted Morgan's biography, which will provide useful information. Naked Scientology/Ali's Smile is a book I know little about, so I can't provide much help there, unfortunately. And, yes, you are right about my feeling discouraged, I have also been traveling a lot, so I have not been active. Later this month, though, I should be back on a more regular schedule. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 21:57, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Personal question
There seem to be alot of libertarian socialists on wikipedia, I've come across maybe 5 out of about 12 editors I've worked with! How do you reconcile your aversion to communism with your socialism? ValenShephard (talk) 16:43, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- I don't see any harm in discussing this, we aren't going to insert any of this into articles. You could email me if you don't want to talk it here. I saw capitalism mentioned on your page too, how does that fit in with your left liberatarianism? ValenShephard (talk) 17:13, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- What does social capitalism have to say about property rights and the means of production, also, what does it say about inequality? ValenShephard (talk) 17:57, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Cities of the Red Night
Good call on that rewrite. As minor as it was, it clarifies things much better. I am thinking of removing the designation of Burroughs as a Beat writer from the lede. By the time he wrote his final trilogy, he was well past the Beat association, and his style had developed in numerous ways. By that point, as well, he was as much associated with Punk, and other underground scenes, as he was with the Beats. What do you think? ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 15:39, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
- I agree. Indeed, with the Cut-up Trilogy, he had already moved into territory far more radical than anything Kerouac attempted. Removing the word. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 16:21, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Lede for George Washington
Rjensen reverted the lede to the longer version. Cmguy777 (talk) 19:24, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
The lede has been changed to an earlier modified version. Cmguy777 (talk) 18:29, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
I found an earlier lede to put in the GW article. Rjensen is reluctant to the reduce the lede. Here is the earlier verson:
- George Washington (February 22, 1732 [O.S. February 11, 1731]– December 14, 1799)[1][2][3] served as the first President of the United States from 1789 to 1797,[4][5][6] and as the commander of the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War from 1775 to 1783. His role in the revolution and subsequent independence and formation of the United States was significant, and he is seen by Americans as the "Father of Our Country".[5][6]
- The Continental Congress appointed Washington commander-in-chief of the American revolutionary forces in 1775.[7] The following year, the British were ousted and left Boston, lost New York City, and were defeated in Trenton, New Jersey by Washington's surprise crossing of the Delaware River. Because of his strategy, Revolutionary forces captured the two main British combat armies at Saratoga and Yorktown. Negotiating with Congress, the colonial states, and French allies, he held together a tenuous army and a fragile nation amid the threats of disintegration and failure. Following the end of the war in 1783, King George III asked what Washington would do next and was told of rumors that he would return to his farm, prompting the King to state, "if he does that, he will be the greatest man in the world." Washington did return to private life and retired to his plantation at Mount Vernon.[8]
- Washington presided over the Philadelphia Convention that drafted the United States Constitution in 1787 because of general dissatisfaction with the Articles of Confederation. Washington became President of the United States in 1789 and established many of the customs and usages of the new government's executive department. He sought to create a nation capable of sustaining peace with their neighboring countries. His unilateral Proclamation of Neutrality of 1793 provided a basis for avoiding any involvement in foreign conflicts. He supported plans to build a strong central government by paying off the national debt, implementing an effective tax system, and creating a national bank. Washington avoided war and maintained a decade of peace with Britain upon signing the Jay Treaty in 1795, despite intense opposition from the Jeffersonians. Although never officially joining the Federalist Party, he supported its programs. Washington's farewell address was a primer on republican virtue and a stern warning against partisanship, sectionalism, and involvement in foreign wars. He was awarded the first Congressional Gold Medal with the Thanks of Congress in 1776.[9]
- Washington died in 1799 mainly due to treatment for his pnuemonia, which included calomel and bloodletting, resulting in a combination of shock from the loss of five pints of blood, as well as asphyxia and dehydration. Henry "Light-Horse Harry" Lee, delivering the funeral oration, declared Washington "first in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen".[10] Historical scholars consistently rank him as one of the greatest United States presidents.

- ^ The birth and death of George Washington are given using the Gregorian calendar. However, he was born when Britain and her colonies still used the Julian calendar, so contemporary records record his birth as February 11, 1731. The provisions of the Calendar (New Style) Act 1750, implemented in 1752, altered the official British dating method to the Gregorian calendar with the start of the year on January 1.

YouTube video capture "Frank Zappa Playing Music on a Bicycle 1963"
Hi, About the YouTube video capture "Frank Zappa Playing Music on a Bicycle 1963" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9P2V0_p6vE that had been entered by 71.65.236.50 into the infobox on the Frank Zappa page on Nov 7, 2010 - Very late last night, I saw that the entry had been made by the non-registered user. I did not have time to evaluate where it should be located on the page. My edit was intended to clean the entry up so that it would look presentable to viewers. The double brackets around "bicycle" were showing. My annotation, "minor cleanup of bicycle addition to instruments just so that reference would show properly - further attention needed" described my opinion that further attention is needed concerning the video clip. I believe that the clip belongs somewhere on the page (not where it was placed), because what Frank Zappa, at the age of 22, was saying, on a popular national TV show, about creativity is very significant. Both Frank Zappa's delivery of the message, and Steve Allen's reaction to what Frank Zappa was saying and doing are significant. Steve Allen was an accomplished musician in his own right, and his reaction, in my view, shows how something that is not within the norm can be difficult to accept by the general population. Steve Allen also displayed in his acknowledgement at the end of the clip that he understood what Frank Zappa was demonstrating. Could this video clip be seriously considered for inclusion on the Frank Zappa page, hopefully in a location that has context as opposed to being included merely as an external reference? Reference #34 (as of 11/7/10) refers to the show. Could this clip be inserted as an external video link in the Early 1960s: Studio Z section on the Frank Zappa page? Thank you for your contributions. Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Liberal Democrats, as "minor" only if they truly are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute.
