Humshaugh

[edit]

Do you know how Humshaugh got on the DYK page? I can't find it on the DYK nom page and DYKs are only supposed to be 1-5 day old (for new articles) but Humshaugh is at least two weeks old.Rlevse 11:10, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Scout-uk-map-county-glasgow.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Scout-uk-map-county-glasgow.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 15:09, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I just marked the image so that it can be reduced in resolution. I think 300px wide is plenty large for a fair use image, and this one is 426px wide. I'm soft on images that are 300-400, but really, there's not a valid need to have fair use images that are large, as most used in article are 300px or less. It's not a big deal. The fair use policy #3 states "...Low-resolution images should be used instead of high-resolution images..." so that's what I'm trying to do. Your image is not up for deletion in any manner, though, once replaced with a lower resolution file, the version you uploaded will be deleted to prevent storage of a higher resolution version, used by others. Again, it's not a big deal, you didn't really do anything wrong. Oh, and thanks for watchlisting your images. You'd be amazed how few people do that. --MECUtalk 00:54, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes! On every image page is a link below "file links": "Upload a new version of this file". Just click that, select the file and the image will be uploaded over the original. The older version is still kept, in case we need to revert back to it (such as for vandalism). This is the normal procedure for the fair use reducing. --MECUtalk 01:00, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

UK Scout Counties

[edit]

I have been cleaning up some redirects and found Scouting staff and Scouting sections in a few "See also" sections of County articles, such as Scouting in Avon. Both of these now redirect to the Scout Association. Should we delete them? I deleted them in some other articles, but not in County articles. I also commented on your views on County articles on the Project talk page. --Bduke 23:08, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I think the Scouting sections would be better served redirecting to the Age Groups in Scouting and Guiding article... I don't think the Scouting staff one serves any purpose at all, so agree to a delete on that one... I'll be cleaning up as I go along through the Counties. Thanks for bringing this to my attentions Horus Kol Talk 23:58, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Of course - Scouting sections should be redirected to the Age Groups in Scouting and Guiding. I have done it and added it back to "See also" in Scout Counties and Scout District. --Bduke 01:01, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Wood Badge

[edit]

I tagged it that way as the historical roots of the beads themselves are South African. Chris 06:56, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
