[edit]The rich
will make temples for Siva.
What shall I,
a poor man,
do?
My legs are pillars,
the body the shrine,
the head a cupola
of gold.
Listen, O lord of the meeting rivers,
things standing shall fall,
but the moving ever shall stay.
- Basava, 12th-century poet, tr. by A. K. Ramanugan
A Walk
My eyes already touch the sunny hill,
going far ahead of the road I have begun.
So we are grasped by what we cannot grasp;
it has its inner light, even from a distance—
and changes us, even if we do not reach it,
into something else, which, hardly sensing it,
we already are;
a gesture waves us on, answering our own wave . . .
but what we feel is the wind in our faces.
-Rainer Maria Rilke, 1924, Translated by Robert Bly [1]

The part that resonated with me the most is the addiction to wanting acceptance or validation. I am learning that just my being is enough... that is big. I am enough regardless of who thinks what of me....

(help) - Let's not celebrate a birthday...Let's celebrate you, who you came here as and will long after, eternally after you leave this transient world!...Lets celebrate you everyday!
The journey of life is internal. It is of becoming more and more authentic, and aligned with our soul! Know your soul, it sparkles when I see it.
When we reflect, look within for the point of reference, rather than the world outside, we begin to know our souls deeply, with passing years. It allows our life to sparkle. No doubt, our self, constantly challenges us. But to not be more, rather only who we are, as who we are is enough, and that is our greatest challenge to stand in our light, authentic light!
Just be.
You are enough, for God created you!
- When you learn the lesson, the purpose of the experience is done, it is over! Be it life or a life event!

[edit]Lack of integrity is a weakness, when we have an encounter with someone with such a weakness, may we be inspired forgive them, realising the consequences they will have to face not just now, but in future lifetimes, and pray for wisdom being dawned on them, as it has on you!
Loss of innocence and moral backbone has been a issue of perennial concern with parents and elders of society, witnessing the marked lack of a wisdom culture in modern life, which is more devout to monetary success and worships its demigods and goods, more than real ones.
Personally this archetypal betrayal, is a valuable experience, as from it we can scan our own inner darkness, plus learn to discern amongst people.
We also need the balance while growing up to become aware of dark side of society as well as of people. Just has we teach our children, or young adults as I prefer to see them, to discern between good touch and bad touch, we also need to teach them and even learn ourselves to distinguish between good attention and bad one, between good company and bad one, good path and bad one or environment for that matter, no matter how flattering it might seem outwardly. This can only be done if learn to listen to our inner intuition, gut feeling about thing.
Recently I read about American Army in Iraq has people who can sense this "cold feeling" when they step on to a road which has mines or some form of danger. Same can be used in guiding ourselves to better people to associate with, rather associating with people who we can look up rather than people who shower accolades at us and in turn control us by boosting our egos.
People who are inauthentic would do anything thing to make to like them, which is easy. Once they can tape into our inner "weakness of being liked". Guys have been doing it for ever, to latch on to girls with low self esteem, hence low standards in whom they would give their company to.
Is monetary success the only success or being a successful human being is equally important? When we as a society learn it, in the coming generation we'd have more of a society. Right now, we are hardly social, though we might like to think of ourselves as a society, we have clubs at the maximum.
When we realise that we are heroes of our life and not sidekicks, we'd be inspired naturally to lead a more authentic life, with greater integrity, honour and above all of social consequence. Few lives these days have any social consequence!
Whatever works for an individual is the right path, none better than another. As someone rightly mentioned above one has to be ready for the self-inquiry path, even then bhakti is an essential ingredient, as you cannot stay aware at all times, so we do need grace! And for someone who is not ready, that is hasn't brought his/her shadow sides into awareness, this can be tricky,
as often they strike when you are most unprepared! So till the advent of grace, till our mind becomes still naturally, practice all that you need to. Thereafter stay at the heart. as the mind tend to ..wait for self-inquiry to happen spontaneously!

[edit]Never settle for an ordinary life when you can live a life filled with the presence of the sacred in every single moment! You were born for something extraordinary. because you come from the extraordinary! Find your extra ordinary-ness deep beneath your ordinary-ness and thus your sacred nature!
