The South African singer Tyla has received several awards and honorary accolade. In 2024, Tyla was named the youngest African soloist to win a Grammy Award.[1] Tyla was honoured by Billboard, and has also received BET and MTV Video Music Award.[2]

Tyla started off covering pop songs before she joined the amapiano wave.[3] She released her debut single "Getting Late" in 2019 and was nominated for Best Music Video of the Year at the 28th annual South African Music Awards in 2022.[4][5] In 2023, she released "Been Thinking" which was nominated for Best Produced Music Video at the 29th annual South African Music Awards,[6] and she won the Best Female Artist award at the 9th annual African Entertainment Awards USA later that year.[7] She was also nominated for Best New Artist at the 2023 Soul Train Music Awards,[8] and Best African Music Act at the MOBO Awards 2023.[9]

Tyla's breakthrough single, "Water", taken off her debut self-titled studio album (2024) was the first recipient to win the inaugural Best African Music Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.[10] Tyla went on to win the most awards at the 2024 BET Awards, tying with American singers Usher and Victoria Monét at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California,[11] where she was named the Best New Artist,[12] and Best International Act.[13] In her native South Africa, Tyla won Song of the Year, International Achievement and Highest Airplay at the 3rd annual Basadi In Music Awards,[14] Best International Act at the 2024 Cultural and Creative Industry Awards,[15] and Most Stylish Performing Artist at the 2024 South African Style Awards.[16] With six nominations, Tyla led the 18th Metro FM Music Awards' nomination list,[17] and she was awarded the Global Icon Award.[18] Tyla's nominations including the Best New Artist and Best R&B Video at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards,[19] BET Award for Viewer's Choice,[20] Metro FM Music Award for Song of the Year,[21] and Brit Award for International Song.[22] Tyla was among the five chart toppers honoured by Billboard,[23] she received a Global Force Award at the inaugural Billboard R&B's No. 1s.[24]
