I am Andrew Robinson, a photographer, educator and academic researcher whose practice investigates expressions of identity and folklore through a visual anthropology of people, place, and trace.
Current research interests include: the folklore, myth and legend associated with photographs and photographers; the visual representation of vernacular English custom and tradition; and photography in print and archive.
Over my 35 year career my artwork has been published and exhibited widely and I has undertaken art commissions and residences in a range of contexts including art, education, health and social research.
In more recent years I have developed a research practice exploring subjects as diverse as: Roger Fenton’s photographs of the Crimean War; Lover’s Leap Legends; English Calendar Customs; The Calvine UFO; and A.I Generated Imagery. My research has been published in academic books, journals and presented at conference and symposiums.
I hold a full time post as Senior Lecturer in Photography at Sheffield Hallam University, teaching on BA (Hons) Photography and MA Photography.
I have joined the Wikipedia Community as an editor so I can share my knowledge and understanding relating to my personal and academic research.
