  • Optimism should have a separate page that focuses on the philosophical idea of optimism and distinguishes the philosophical view from "positive thinking" and other everyday uses of the word.
  • Philosophy of social science, has some okay points but requires elaboration on Wittgenstein and Winch, perhaps other linguistic critiques, whether logical positivist or postmodernist.
  • Exchange value needs to be redone, it shouldn't be under 'Marxist theory'- although it's an important component of Marxist theory it's also vital for all economics. That said the article's weight on Marx is also absurd.
  • German Idealism and the articles related to it may need to be rewritten or expanded to avoid undue weight on Arthur Schopenhauer.
  • Protected values first section confuses right action and values and needs a copy edit, moving and wikifying
  • Quality (philosophy) needs a more clear explanation.
  • Socratic dialogues could do with some tidying and clarification. See the talk page for one suggested change.
  • Problem of universals: The introductory definition is (perhaps) fixed. But, the article is poor. Check out the German version.
  • Teleology: the article is shallow and inconsistent.
  • Existentialism: the quality of this article varies wildly and is in desperate need of expert attention.
  • Analytic philosophy This is a very major topic, but still has several sections which are stubs, and several topics which are not covered.
  • Lifeworld A philosophical concept that seems to have fallen exclusively into the hands of the sociologists. Could use some attention; it's a major and complex issue in phenomenology.
  • Perception Needs the attention of philosophically minded Wikipedians. This is only the start of an overhaul of perception and related articles.

My name is Daniella, I'm a current student at UW-Madison. My interests are very broad but my knowledge is only as broad and as deep as the fallibility of human memory. I use wikipedia to learn new facts which pique my interest or to remind me of the subjects I have forgotten or the details which have become fuzzy. I have a scientific background which has taught me to search for the objective truth. This analytical mode of inquiry is tempered and refined by my study of philosophy which I hold to be one of the highest sciences when approached the same way one approaches the natural sciences. I am also a fiction writer who searches to explain her understanding of the world in a narrative form which can cross the strict boundaries of ideological institutions without confronting them. My goal with my writing is not to convince people to change their ideological framework, but to help them realize it's a limitation which can hinder the frameworks in which other people exist.

As well as being an enthusiastic pursuer of knowledge, a writer and a philosopher, I am also a visual artist. I am a photographer, a cartoonist and a graphic designer as well as the more traditional mediums of pencil sketching and oil painting. My artwork is a reflection and expression of the immense beauty I see in the world. It may be the undisturbed beauty of a system or it may be the beauty of a system which has been disturbed and is in the process of trying to continue after the destruction. My asethetic sense is that beauty is a dynamic organism which exists as a balance between harmony and the re-assertion of harmony after it has been perturbed by a destructive force. Art, like her sister literature is a creative compulsion for me and if I try to ignore this need, I become stressed, cantankerous and impossible to live with.

I am a participant in the WikiProject Philosophy because of my high respect for philosophy and my belief that it is one of the most important and neglected aspects of a person's psyche. My goal in participating is to be a part of a project to create a living understanding of philosophy which is accessible to everyone.
