My name is Doug Maynard. I am an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at the State University of New York at New Paltz. I earned my Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Bowling Green State University in 1998.
For years I have conducted research on the consequences of overqualification and other forms of underemployment. Together with Daniel Feldman from the University of Georgia, I recently edited a volume entitled Underemployment: Psychological, Economic, and Social Challenges, published by Springer. My work has also appeared in such journals as the Journal of Organizational Behavior, Career Development International, Human Performance, Organizational Research Methods, Higher Education, Teaching of Psychology and the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology.
I am also interested in studying and working on the issues faced by marginalized and disadvantaged workers. I am a member of the Global Task Force of the Humanitarian Work Psychology (HWP) group. I am also a member of the Association for Psychological Science (APS) and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP).
