In an effort to combat link rot, DASHBot archives new links added in references.

Emergency Bot Shutoff

To turn off the bot, please contact an administrator to have the bot blocked. Then please inform Tim1357 (talk page) as soon as possible.

Procedure

• The bot listens to the IRC channel #wikipedia-en-spam on freenode.net, and logs all urls added to the article space.

• The bot verifies in 24 hours that the url still exists on the page, and also that the url is used in at least one reference.

• The bot checks its local cache for an archive within the past 100 days. If none exists, it requests that WebCite create an archive.

• The bot checks that the archive was a success one hour after the request was made.
• The bot then inserts the archive into the article using either a {{WebCite}} template or the appropriate parameters in a {{Citation}} template.

Leave my page alone!
