A Woman’s Deeper Journey Into Sex and the shorter version A Woman's Journey Into Sex is an independent 2013 Australian documentary about aspects of female sexuality. As it contains documentary research within a fictional context it is also a docufiction. The film follows fictional character Detective Lauren Lacey as she travels from Australia to determine whether women need emotional connection for good sex. Lacey is set on her quest by fictional character, documentary maker Taylia Thistlewaite.
Lacey is captured in her car, ‘I never travel without it’, at various locations in Northern America, the UK and Jamaica where she investigates bachelorettes, female orgasms, women paying for sex, the Madonna-whore complex, the clitoris, Rent-A-Dreads, cougars, women’s pornography viewing habits and romance dependency.
To assist her investigation Lacey receives directives from Taylia in Australia and consults her Dictionary on matters such as women’s history.
When Lacey returns to Australia she reports to Taylia that when women overcome their romance dependency the number of women in Chief Executive Officer positions will increase and that her evidence is inconclusive as regards women needing emotional attachment for good sex.
The film is written, directed and produced by Sally McKenzie who also narrates.
