Welcome

[edit]

Just thought I'd say Hi to everyone who leaves me comments. Whether they're good or bad, as long as they're constructive and relevant they will be appreciated and left on here :) I am not going to have a personal userpage, it will just divert to here
I am particularly contributing to "seventh gen console" pages (in particular System Software) Thanks for looking, and thanks for any comments you leave :)

[edit]

Whoa, sorry man. I was unaware of these talk pages and who kept changing it back. I'm a total novice at this site and I didn't even know how to read the comments and talk stuff. I'm really sorry, I'll never change his nationality again please don't report me or anything. I just read all your guys comments and stuff and I just wanted to say I'm sorry. But now that I see you've asked, I discovered he's Serbian during the mission "Easy Fare." Vlad makes a comment "Speaking of Serbs" as Niko walks in. Also in the beginning title sequence Roman says something like "Your english is better than my Serbian." Once again though, I didn't know about those messages. I'm very sorry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ThePhrozenPhoenix (talkcontribs) 21:54, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you can verify by simply renting the game and seeing for yourself. But if you'd prefer, I'll try and find the script or something over the internet or some sort of written text. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ThePhrozenPhoenix (talkcontribs) 01:29, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of PlayStation 3 games

[edit]

Hi, just wanted to let you know that I am going to semi-revert your last edit to List of PlayStation 3 games because you didn't have time to finish it and neither do I right now. I will put back in the bits you did finish. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 19:02, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I kept the trophy statuses short like you did so that the column can be made narrower when needed. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 19:18, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Being there a while doesn't justify it being kept. See this discussion: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Video_games#A_question_about_PAL_conversion_issues_column_on_2_Virtual_Console_lists. The information is trivial at best, and not suitable for this encyclopedia. Relevant issues (that are sourced and actually notable) belong on the game articles, not just jammed into the list. Next time, please think before you revert just because the column has been there a while. RobJ1981 (talk) 00:16, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

well it wasn't discussed on the article page, which is where it should have been discussed (as well as on the project) because more casual editors like myself are maybe not aware a discussions going on. It has not been discussed properly. chocobogamer LOOK AT WHAT I DID 16:24, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are plenty of them. If you wish to see the two dozen or so, look here. At the time, the user never denied them, and thusly defused all but two RfCU requests, which is reserved for only those IP addresses which seem to be acting in concert or too similar. Now that they have piled up, they cannot be explained away. Dial back the registration talk

[edit]

Wikipedia has more than one long term IP only editor who contributes positively to the encyclopedia. There is no requirement that anyone create an account and not creating an account isn't an automatic reason to assume bad faith. I'd recommend you dial back your harping on that as it doesn't benefit the discussion.--Crossmr (talk) 04:34, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is a discussion and I, like everyone else, am entitled to an opinion, and that is what I have aired. If you don't like it then thats your problem. Don't come onto my page telling me not to air an opinion. chocobogamer LOOK AT WHAT I DID 13:28, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not requiring an account to edit wikipedia is a long standing tenant on wikipedia. If you have decided to take issue with that then I would suggest air your grievance in the proper venue, a single users talk page is not the right place to argue against long-standing and accepted tradition. This is also not your page, its a page you're allowed to use, which you're often given latitude with, part of the same tradition, but you don't own it. Its a place for other users to communicate with you, which was I was doing.--Crossmr (talk) 03:17, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Get your facts right, I have not taken issue with it at all and have not simply assumed bad faith through the lack of registering, I am posting an opinion on why he hasn't registered in over 7 years, which I am entitled to do ANYWHERE relevant. /there is evidence in his posting that he does use a dynamic IP, and he has been abusive across multiple addresses. That is an abuse of the 'anyone can edit' rule - plain and simple. I didn't say I own it but it is the talk page for Chocobogamer, if you have a problem with opinion thats your problem. Do not go on peoples' talk pages telling them to air it somewhere else and not to air it where they feel its relevant. chocobogamer LOOK AT WHAT I DID 10:37, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

About Best Selling Video Games

[edit]

Hey I saw you recently reverted an edit where someone else changed Metal Gear Solid 2 from stealth to thriller. I didn't want to make any changes there but thought I would contact you as I agree with the user, Metal Gear Solid 2 isn't stealth at all like the other games. I don't remember there being any parts where stealth helped me when I played through it instead of just going into first person shooting mode and cleaning up. I would classify it as action or something other than stealth. --Xander756 (talk) 17:58, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GamePro classified it as "action" on their review when the game came out (http://www.gamepro.com/article/reviews/18204/metal-gear-solid-2-sons-of-liberty/) --Xander756 (talk) 21:24, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Who then was a gentleman? I'm awarding you this special barnstar to show appreciation to your explanations regarding the List of Virgin Media Channels. I couldn't find any other barnstar which suited my reasons for awarding, however this one covers randomness. Aeris

[edit]

I'm just finding it confusing. It's like in a section we first use Kakarott and then change it to Son Goku or Zero. I have no intention in making this something big, but in the talk page it was decided to leave as Aeris the per mos from the final fantasy wikiproject.Tintor2 (talk) 00:07, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's better to keep the discussion in the FFVII talk page. Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 00:15, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't remember for sure on the PC version, but swear I have this memory of seeing it come up as "Aerith", and changing it to "Aeris" cuz that's what I was used to after first playing it on PSX. Hmm, I don't have a save with her still in it to check. Ah, well. (Actually, come to think of it - when I just loaded it, it did have the Eidos thing at the front, so maybe it was a change? Although what's going on with the display to mess up the movies on my computer, I'd love to figure out... I KNOW they were working on this XP box last time I tried the game...) umrguy42 20:52, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was designed for 9x and *just* worked out of the box on 2k. There were several patches for XP as stuff like videos got flipped and jagged to hell lol. I'm running 7 on all my systems bar my netbook so I doubt I have much chance of trying it. If I'm wrong then I apologies, I was just certain it was a straight port :) chocobogamer mine 20:56, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nah, don't worry, I could be wrong too (although I'm pretty sure on the Eidos thing, though). I do know it worked before on this XP box, even with current video card, I just wouldn't be surprised to find I'd changed a setting, or updated a driver, and it's going wonky :) BTW, I changed the Aerith/Aeris to a footnote per my suggestion, what do you think? Best, umrguy42 21:11, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
lol, replied in discussion re Aeris. IIRC (I'm probably wrong as usual lol) the installer and pre-boot had the Eidos logo but the actual game was like the PS game (I could be getting confused with FF8 lol). Thanks for your help chocobogamer mine 21:17, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, as far as the PC version, well, it all just boils down to them really needing to do a PS2 remake (no, not the PSN thing, or PS3 - what can I say, it's all about me)... or even a straight-up PSX re-printing. (I bet there's enough people who've worn out/scratched up/broken/etc. their originals, plus people who still want it, based on eBay pricings, to make it worth while...) umrguy42 21:42, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Keep an eye out over Xmas time, if you're lucky you may be able to do what I did, about 2 years ago I managed to pick up 2nd copies of 7 8 and 9 for bout £45 for all 3, brand new and sealed. I wanted to keep all 3 sealed but 1 arrived in a cracked case, and the original of another stopped working, so just FF7 (plat) is sealed now :( It appears they did a brief re-print in Europe before Christmas, maybe because it was 7's 10th bday, they may do it over Xmas again chocobogamer mine 21:48, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the tip, although I haven't seen any such thing lately here in the US. Although I did pick up 9 a year and a half to two years ago brand new from Amazon for either $15 or $20 (can't remember if it was the standard "Greatest Hits" price, or even more discounted - also bought the compilation of 5 & 6, as well as Chrono Trigger and FF4, for that price range). (Personally, I couldn't get into 8, just, I dunno. I'm still working on XII, though :D). umrguy42 01:12, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Xbox360arcade.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. Fair use rationale for File:Pes-newps3box.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Pes-newps3box.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Xbox 360 sales figure is questionable

[edit]

The source which says the console has sold 39 million on the Xbox 360 and List of best-selling game consoles page is very questionable, as it says "There are now over 39 million Xbox 360 consoles around the world" which implies that the console has shipped 39 million, not necessarily sold 39 million. What do you think? Because the last time I checked, the console had sold 32 million as of September 2009. (Here is the source. If you agree, sorry to pin this on ya, but could you please change all of the pages displaying this false figure? I've already done some of the Xbox 360 page, just need to do 7th gen, list of bestselling consoles and any I've missed out. Thanks. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 10:27, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ballmer isn't the greatest wordsmith on the planet.. I would think that in 3 months it would have sold a few million at least, lead up to christmas and some good offers etc. so at minimum id guess 35m, but would there seriously only be 4m across the entire world in stores? if you split that across the countries across the cities across the stores etc you're talking only tens in each store, seems a bit too low. chocobogamer mine 00:12, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I strongly agree that it would have sold a heck load, but according to various sources, PS3 has outsold the 360 in most of the months after September 09 and has only done so in 3 million lots. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 02:43, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Aeris/Aerith Reverts... (Final Fantasy 7 page)

[edit]

Hi,

Re: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VII

Sorry for my re-revert. Funny thing is, I was the person who reverted it to Aeris after an anon kept changing it to Aerith. It wasn't until I read the Aerith page that I decided to undo my revert... and it was late when I decided to revert my change back to the anon's, so I did not think about the "game specific" nature of the particular article (ie: it's the Final Fantasy 7 game page; a game in which she was called Aeris in all English versions).

Sorry for the confusion... though I expect the anon will go back and revert it to Aerith yet again (has done so numerous times already in the last few days).

Best, Robert
