Cheoc Van Beach
[edit]Cheoc Van Beach is a beach in Coloane, Macau. It is smaller than Hac Sa Beach, but has white sands as opposed to the black sands of Hac Sa. [1]
Name
[edit]The name "Cheoc Van", is a translation from Cantonese (Chinese: 竹灣; Cantonese Yale: Jūk wāan, Portuguese: Cheoc Van), which translates to "Bamboo Bay".
Description
[edit]The beach is a picturesque golden sand beach that has shade from tree and a lifeguard on duty in season. It is a half moon shape and has public toilets and changing rooms. There are BBQ pits, a pousada, plastic chairs, sun loungers and umbrellas. There is also a public pool that was opened in 1985 and has a small fee, Cheoc Van Swimming Pool, above the beach.
Eateries
[edit]There are a few stalls at the beach selling snacks and some restaurants like La Gondola that make authentic wood-fired pizzas. Nearby, in Coloane Village, is the famous and first egg tart store, Lord Stow’s Bakery.
