Activity
[edit]Per "Texas" Johansson was up to 1990 playing with Thore Swanerud and Gugge Hedrenius. During the 90's in Stockholm Jazz Orchestra and with Lina Nyberg. 1997 his first album with Fredrik Ljungkvist, Dan Berglund and Mickel Ulfberg was released at EMI/Kaza. During the 2010's he plaid with Atomic, Goran Kajfes, Peter Asplund, Dicken Hedrenius, Bo Kaspers Orkester and Torbjörn Zetterberg. He also plaid with his own bands, with musicians as Paal Nilssen-Love and Johan Lindström. From 1987 to 2007 he participated in 21 recordings. His album Alla Mina Kompisar was awarded the 1998 Gyllene Skivan. But after Johansson released this acclaimed album he decided to change course and studied nursing and began to work as anesthesiologist nurse at the Huddinge hospital in the southern suburb Flemingsberg of Stockholm, a location that inspired the title of the album, referring to the long escalators in Flemingsberg metro station. After some years Johansson began to return to active music life, recording with trombonist Mats Äleklint Quartet (Moserobie, 2013), pianists Cecilia Persson (Open Rein, Hoob, 2014) and Klas Nevrin (Live at Lederman, Found You Recordings, 2014) and recently worked in Barry Guy Blue Shroud project. He also played in a recent performance of Fire! Orchestra. Finally, after 16 years Johansson recorded his comeback album. Former collaborators from his last album join him - sax player Fredrik Ljungkvist (on two tracks), Mattias Ståhl on vibes and guitarist Johan Lindström and Konard Agnas on drums. From 2016 Johansson is part of the JH3-Jari Haapalainen Trio.
He shall not be mixed with the Swedish footballer Per ""Texas"" Johansson or the jazz musician Per ""Ruskträsk"" Johansson.
