In the 2022 presidential election, the Dinagat Islands saw a significant shift in voter sentiment compared to the 2016 vice-presidential race. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. achieved a decisive victory, securing 75.35% of the votes, a substantial increase from his 34% share in the 2016 vice-presidential contest. Conversely, Vice President Leni Robredo, who had previously garnered 42% of the vote in 2016, saw her support decrease to 17.17% in 2022.
This dramatic reversal reflects a broader national trend of increasing support for Marcos across various regions.
