Editing helps
[edit]- I am interested in standards and tools for articles so please let me know any that you would recommend.
- Disambiguation - The community has adopted the standard of routing all intentional disambiguation links in mainspace through "Foo (disambiguation)" redirects. This makes it clear that such links are intended to point to the disambiguation page. Not sure if the following is correct. See WP:INTDAB, explanation

[edit]Sources
[edit]- Help:Footnotes
- Reliable source examples
- Press Release - Non-independent sources - connection of the source to the topic must be clearly identified. i.e. "Organization X said 10,000 people showed up to protest." is OK.

- Category:United States government attribution templates
- {{PD-old-text}} This template is meant for articles that incorporate text from pre-1926 documents

- Verifiability - Responsibility for providing citation WP:PROVEIT
- {{Better source}}
- Citation needed
- {{Not verified in body}} For lead instead of citation needed
- "reFill" tool to fix bare references.

Links
[edit]The 3-tier diff and link series |
---|
- Wikilinks: Generally, a link should appear only once in an article, but if helpful for readers, links may be repeated in infoboxes, tables, image captions, footnotes, and at the first occurrence after the lead.
- Duplicate links in an article can be identified by using a tool that can be found at User:Ucucha/duplinks.
- To add more links use Find Link. Enter the title of an article, hit search, and up comes a list of articles.
- Piped link is different from the title of the page. Keep piped links as intuitive as possible and avoid "easter egg links."
- MOS:NOPIPE Redirects are usually better than piping
- External links - User notice: {{Uw-inline-el}}, I removed external links you added to the main body of an article.
- Links normally to be avoided
- Sites already linked through Wikipedia sourcing tools.[2] For example, instead of linking to a commercial book site, consider the "ISBN" linking format, which gives readers an opportunity to search a wide variety of free and non-free book sources. Map sources can be linked by using geographical coordinates.
- Wikipedia does not attempt to provide links to provide readers with a handy list of all social networking sites. WP:ELMINOFFICIAL
- Links normally to be avoided
