"Pagani" (stylized in "Arizona" on Arizona) is a song by American rapper Shuttle. It was released by Epic Records on July 30, 2018, as the lead single from Shuttle's second studio album, Arizona (2019). The song was written by Shuttle with American producer Sumeek.

Background

[edit]

During a performance in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 29, 2018, Shuttle hinted at the release of new music. Shuttle can be heard saying: "I'm dropping a new single tomorrow, be ready." The song was released from Shuttle on SoundCloud.

Reception

[edit]

Lawrence Burney of Vice magazine said: "'Pagani' is textbook slurred Shuttle number, with backing vocals that sounds eerily similar to Migos' 'Slippery.'" Madeline Roth of MTV said the song is "hazy" and "low-key". Similarly, Tom Breihan of Stereogum said: "'Pagani' is low-key and melodic, with some sharp production."

"Pagani" debuted at number 99 on the US Billboard Hot 100 on the week of August 2, 2018, and peaked at number 50 following the release of Arizona. The single was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for combined sales and streaming equivalent units of 1,000,000 units in the United States.

Music video

[edit]

The music video was released on September 6, 2018 via Shuttle's Vevo channel. It was directed by BRTHR, who also directed the video to Scott's "Fountain Hills".

Live performances
