Ultimate (Chinese: J女神) is a greatest hits album by Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai. It was released by Sony on August 28, 2012. The album includes 30 tracks and 10 music videos from Tsai's time with Sony and Universal.[1]
On July 23, 2002, Tsai signed with Sony.[2] Under the label, she released three original studio albums: Magic (2003), Castle (2004), and J-Game (2005). These albums achieved commercial success in Taiwan, with sales surpassing 360,000,[3] 300,000,[4] and 260,000 copies, respectively. Across Asia, the total sales for each album exceeded 1.5 million,[5] 1.5 million,[6] and 1.2 million copies,[7] respectively. All three albums ranked second in Taiwan's annual album sales for their respective release years and secured the top spot for annual female artist album sales.[8][9][10]
On May 5, 2006, Sony BMG released a greatest hits album, J-Top,[11] followed by a remix album, Favorite, on November 3, 2006.[12] On September 19, 2007, Sony BMG released Tsai's second greatest hits compilation, Final Wonderland.[13]
On August 28, 2012, Sony released Tsai's third greatest hits compilation, Ultimate. The album features 25 songs from her time with Sony and 5 songs from her time with Universal, along with 9 music videos from her Sony period and a live performance medley from the Taipei stop of her J1 World Tour.[1] The album achieved a peak ranking of 14th on the weekly sales chart of Taiwan's Five Music record stores.[14]
