Template talk:Test-n

Page contents not supported in other languages.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Some of us like to explictly state which articles the {test*} templates refer to. As a proof of concept, Template:Test2b was created. Due to it becoming really handy, and to avoid conflicts with the numbering scheme, I'm creating Test-n for the named Test, Test2-n for Test2, Test2a-n for Test2a (this one would be the same as Test2b), etc.

Please give feedback. drini | ∂drini 19:38, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Usage

[edit]

Placing {{subst:test-n|Evolution}} produces

This message is regarding the article Evolution. Thanks for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and has been removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks.

[edit]
  • {{test2-n}}Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, etc.
  • {{test2a-n}}Please stop removing content from Wikipedia, etc.
  • {{test3-n}}

Using "article" rather than "page"

[edit]

Can we change this to read (bolding for emphasis, not to be included in actual template) "This message is regarding the page [[{{{1}}}]]?" That way, it has the same meaning, but can be applied to non-articlespace edits. I've changed the other test-n templates, but this one is protected, and so an admin would need to do it for me. Thanks, and any thoughts are most welcome. Blackcap | talk 00:34, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, DESiegel, for changing that. Blackcap | talk 15:29, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Make text agree with test

[edit]

Could someone with edit access please adjust the text to match the test template?

  • "Your test worked, and has been reverted or removed."
  • "...if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia."

Simplify

[edit]

Can the template be simplified like this? -- King of Hearts | (talk) 01:39, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for experimenting with the page [[:{{{1}}}]] on Wikipedia. Your test worked, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks.

Category

[edit]

This should be added to the user warning templates category. 郵便箱 06:49, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing that out; it's been categorised appropriately. // Pathoschild (admin / talk) 13:55, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Templates merged

[edit]

With expanded functionality recently added to Template:test, this template has become redundant. I've redirected it for now, and if the change isn't opposed in the next few days I'll complete the change. // Pathoschild (admin / talk) 00:10, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

As someone pointed out on your talk page, this change has altered the user interface, since the page name is now no longer automatically made into a link. I oppose redirecting this template unless {{test}} is modified to have the same behavior as test-n. If the new behavior of test is considered preferable, just "deprecate" the testx-n templates and remove them from the help pages. People will drift to the new templates eventually. Also note that the redirection has created a few double redirects. --Srleffler 01:57, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HTML comment

[edit]

The comment <!-- Test-n (first level warning) --> needs to be changed to <!-- Template:Test-n (first level warning) --> to be consistent with other warning templates. --Chris (talk) 00:15, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done.--Commander Keane 22:24, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

On a minor note, the link that says "welcome page" should be changed to link to Wikipedia:Introduction instead of Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers, which is a redirect. Dar-Ape 01:06, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lk "Template:Test-n" within comment?

[edit]

I think it would do no harm to have the text

Template:Test-n

, where it appears in the comment, linked:

Template:Test-n

This would make it more convenient for experienced editors to consult the template's markup, in the (presumably usual) case where this Tl has been subst'ed in. (Unlike typical suspected vandals, they know how to break the comment markup & thus have the lk appear in a preview, or they have the pop-up tools that, in an edit pane, make a highlighted lk markup (even inside cmt markup) provide a lk.)

Template addition

[edit]

Could someone add {{TestTemplatesNotice}} to the template (within the <noinclude> tag)? I'd do it myself, but it is protected. EVula 18:09, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
