Current taxonomy lists this moth as a plant in the genus Amorpha, but the moth genus Amorpha is independent and different.

Taxonomy should read: “Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Arthropoda Subphylum: Hexapoda Class: Insecta Order: Lepidoptera Superfamily: Bombycoidea Family: Sphingidae Subfamily: Smerinthinae Tribe: Smerinthini Genus: Amorpha Species: A. juglandis”
