Blue text on red gives me headaches. Unless someone complains, I'm changing the red to a more pleasant color. --Eliyak 03:54, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Someone posted this beside the template on the Ketura page. It didn't fit on the article, so I put it here. It does introduce an interesting concern, the user is 68.14.190.223 (Talk):
Note that this chart of Abraham's wives is not correct since it misleads one to think that the women listed as the wives of Abraham might be listed in the order of marriage or in order of primary importance. The Torah makes it clear that Sarah [Sarai] was the first wife of Abraham and that the only reason he married anyone later was at Sarah's request since initially she didn't conceive. Not only was Sarah the first wife of Abraham, but she was the first in all ways, in ways of holiness as well as in good character and kindness.
I just thought this would do better here than in the Ketura article. Wrad 05:49, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- I amended the template to reflect the text. There is no tradition in any of the religions that name either Hagar or Ketura as wives of Abraham. Moreover, in Jewish law birth order is reckoned by the mother, not the father, so Ishmael, Isaac and Zimran were all first born. However, only Judaism to my knowledge accords special status to a first-born male (bechor).
- There is a Jewish tradition that Abram first had a daughter from Sarai. I will add this to the Abraham article. However, for this reason I changed the title of the template to male offspring. Koakhtzvigad (talk) 14:10, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- This is not a Jewish article, so please review WP:POV. Thanks... ~ AdvertAdam talk 06:25, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
