Alternative hook?
[edit]Unfortunately, I continued to edit Template:Did you know nominations/Savart wheel without realizing that the discussion had already been closed. In response to the reviewer's request for alternative hook/s, my current best attempt at a composite one is:
- ... that Savart's wheel (pictured) may have been the first ultrasonic generator, and that as an experimental musical instrument it is said to make "the most obtrusive, obnoxious and irritating sound ever"?
Any improvements gratefully accepted. Thanks, 217.42.178.17 (talk) 22:04, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
I suppose a more encyclopedic hook might be:
- ... that the relation between musical pitch and the frequency of sound waves was first demonstrated in 1681 by Robert Hooke using a device that is now called a Savart wheel (pictured)?
I think I quite like that, 217.42.178.17 (talk) 08:49, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
Too late...
