Redirect from Template:Country data FAR is missing in documentation. Phanto1999 (talk) 10:42, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The documentation page Template:Country data Faroe Islands/doc isn't protected. You can do improvements there yourself. HTH --RexxS (talk) 12:46, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@RexxS: I think the way these country data templates work is that the template parameters are used to create the documentation. So effectively the documentation is protected. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:56, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Martin: Any text placed on the Template:Country data Faroe Islands/doc subpage appears in the Other information section of the documentation. See Special:Diff/823133528 and Template:Country data Faroe Islands #Other information. I know it's not the same as full editing access, but it seems to do the job requested for now. It can easily be reverted if the automatic documentation picks up the information. Cheers --RexxS (talk) 13:11, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, didn't know that ;) But I think this is probably the edit that was being requested. Phanto1999: can you confirm? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:17, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Aha! Thank you, Martin. I didn't know that the template accepted the |redir2= parameter, although I should have guessed from the naming of redir1. Those /doc subpages are a bit of a backwater in these cases, I guess. I wonder how many more have iws links still? --RexxS (talk) 13:25, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Perfect, thanks! Phanto1999 (talk) 15:47, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request to edit and change the category at: Template:Country data Faroe Islands from 'Category:Country data templates of subdivisions of Denmark' to 'Category:Country data templates of subdivisions of the Kingdom of Denmark'. There is a Distinction between Denmark and the Kingdom of Denmark. Outside the Kingdom of Denmark, "Denmark" is used as the English short-form name to describe the Kingdom of Denmark. The Danish name that is commonly used is Danmark, which is a singular form, whereas both the official Danish name Kongeriget Danmark and the English "(Kingdom of) Denmark" is a plural form. In Danish practice, however, "Kingdom of Denmark" is shortened to "Kingdom" and not to "Denmark", as the latter name could be confused with the Kingdom's principal constituent country rather than with the Kingdom. Apart from the fact that referring to the Kingdom of Denmark as "Denmark" can be confusing, the term "Kingdom" is also used to prevent any feelings of ill will that could be associated with the use of the term "Denmark." The use of the term "Denmark" for the Kingdom as a whole might imply that the Faroe Islands and Greenland are not equal to the Kingdom's country in mainland Europe and that the three island countries have no say in affairs pertaining to the Kingdom but are instead subordinate to the European country. The Kingdom of Denmark is the sovereign state consisting of the three parts of the kingdom— Denmark, Faroe Islands and Greenland—are constituent countries (riget or commonly known as the 'Unity of the Realm' (Danish: rigsfællesskabet) and are equal as in the kingdom.  Not done: This isn't something that can actually be done at this template, and will need larger discussion in order to implement. You're welcome to do so at Template talk:Country showdata. Primefac (talk) 13:51, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Old flag

Can we get a value to display the old Faroese flag? (File:19th_century_Faroese_flag.svg) — IмSтevan talk 18:15, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
