I can understand having the link to Boston Marathon bombing, but does the template really need links to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, Trial of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, Ibragim Todashev, and Sunil Tripathi? All the great names that come to mind when I think of the BAA (e.g. Johnny Kelley, Clarence DeMar, Bill Rodgers (runner), Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot, Bobbi Gibb, Catherine Ndereba, Ernst van Dyk) are buried under List of winners of the Boston Marathon. Should the link to the bombing not suffice for the Tsarnaevs et al.? - Location (talk) 12:26, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This navbox is also used on articles about the bombing. I have long thought there should be a separate navbox for the bombing, and only Boston Marathon bombing should be linked here as you say. I also think {{Boston Athletic Association}} should be renamed to {{Boston Marathon}}, have Boston Marathon as main article, and not place marathon articles in a navbox subgroup. That's a good suggestion. The marathon is certainly more notable that the organization that puts it on. It doesn't make sense to me that the current template would be placed at the bottom of Tsarnaevs et al. but not at the bottom of the athletes above or others who are actual members of the BAA. - Location (talk) 14:29, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Split but do not move - I propose creating a new template entitled "Template:Boston Marathon bombing", but keeping "Template:Boston Athletic Association" right where it is in order to utilize a top-down approach. --Jax 0677 (talk) 19:16, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The five other World Marathon Majors have their own navbox: {{Berlin Marathon}}, {{Chicago Marathon}}, {{London Marathon}}, {{New York City Marathon}}, {{Tokyo Marathon}}. Boston Marathon had around 170,000 page views in the last year. Boston Athletic Association had around 7,000. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:23, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sunil Tripathi and Ibragim Todashev

[edit]

I especially question the inclusion of Sunil Tripathi as one of the people associated with the bombing. AFAIK, he had nothing to do with the bombing. —BarrelProof (talk) 17:32, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

For that matter, there is nothing in the article about Ibragim Todashev that establishes a clear connection to the bombing either. —BarrelProof (talk) 17:37, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
