Initial scope
[edit]The London district articles are of variable quality. Hopefully this will increase navigation between them and get the articles improved. To keep the coverage even I selected these districts by looking at the borough articles and chose between 2 and 4 of what I consider to be the main settlements in each borough. What makes the list
[edit]How do you decide what goes on the list? What about St. John's Wood or West Brompton, neither of which are listed? -- Jmabel | Talk 23:05, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
- As I said above I chose the main 2-4 districts from each borough. Do you think they are the main districts of Westminster? Add them if you think they are. MRSC 06:05, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
- No, if you are counting only 2-4 districts for Westminster, St. John's Wood would not be up there, although I'd say that it is more prominent than some places that are included from less prominent boroughs. West Brompton, I believe is Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (I could be wrong, haven't had occasion to think about it in a couple of decades). And, no, it's not that prominent, certainly not up with Chelsea or South Ken. - Jmabel | Talk 09:02, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

List of places in London |
I don't think that either of these two are appropriate for the London Districts template. This was created as a link to the main geographic areas of the boroughs, not just the main "activity centres". The template is included on all of the articles that are listed in the previous version and changing the content in this way makes it appropriate for those articles. I have reverted the template to the previous version - the activity centres should be in their own template which can be added to the relevant articles. --DavidCane (talk) 23:04, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Limited scope
[edit]If this template is to have limited scope (which seems to be the theme on the Talk page), it needs to be renamed to include "Main" or "Principal" in the title. However, I see no problem with an all-encompassing template. --Nelson Ricardo (talk) 15:29, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

London Plan as reference point
[edit]Why not just use the authority of the London Plan article as the reference point to decide what's in and out and what goes where? User:HughJLF 00:54, 1st April 2016 (UTC)
Rename request
[edit]Ideally, due to the extended geographical scope, can someone please rename this template to either 'Areas of Greater London', or 'Greater London areas'? Personally, I prefer the second suggestion, as it is a grammatical improvement over my first suggestion, and also, it might be easier to both remember, and search for (from the drop-down suggestions in the search box). Thoughts please. :-) Kfz-Technik Deutsch-Techniker (talk) 07:33, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
Gasforth
[edit]I have started a discussion about where Gasforth is at Talk:The Thin Blue Line (TV series), but I would note that The Thin Blue Line's article places it in North Yorkshire (which as I have said in that discussion I am skeptical about) and memory is that in at least one episode (the one about policing a football match) it is made clear that the characters are not in the Metropolitan Police, which would seem to conclusively rule out a London setting. - I have removed Gasforth in the absence of their being any evidence that it was intended to be in London - see alos Talk:The Thin Blue Line (TV series)#Location_of_Gasforth. Dunarc (talk) 19:19, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
