W-D-L?

[edit]

MLS presents its own standings in the "Win-Loss-Tie" format prevalent in North America, and this table should be listed that way as well. Barring cogent arguments for why we should be using European format and nomenclature for a North American league, I'll change it in a couple days. Ravenswing 13:17, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's a template. I'm not sure why we would want to change it. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:22, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I'm not sure it's an easy thing. The page does invoke:Sports table|main|style=WLD and so a new sports table would have to be created for the format. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:37, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You're not sure why we'd want to change it? Because the template doesn't reflect the nomenclature used by the league or generally by the North American media. Period. Ravenswing 03:11, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
But readers outside of North America read it as well. Did you see the part where I wrote that it may not be an easy fix? Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:59, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Walter. The template should be uniform for all of the football pages. It makes browsing wikipedia just a tiny bit easier to browse if everything is consistent, so I think we should try to keep as much stuff as possible to be the same on every article. Also, there is the thing about the technical difficulties of it. ----Nobreadsticks (talk) 09:00, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, that's not how the MOS works -- we don't place any other North American sport articles in Euro-style formats just to make things more comfy for European users of the English Wikipedia, any more than we write them in Commonwealth English just because British users would prefer us to do so. I also seriously question your assertion that it's easier to "browse" Wikipedia if this table is exactly the same as Euro tables: how exactly do you figure? You can call up the relevant pages just as easily either way. Ravenswing 11:57, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
