Template:YesAutosign
About
{{YesAutosign}} is a non-categorical, bot-neutral way of explicitly opting in to having bots like SineBot automatically sign a user's comments—even if the person is an experienced Wikipedian. It can be particularly useful in instances where even the most seasoned wiki veteran has an absent-minded moment and is happy to have a bot watching over them.
It produces no visible output, because it creates a backreference to this page, which SineBot then reads every five minutes or so.
Note that this template affects only the contributions of the editor whose user page it resides on. To request that SineBot automatically sign all editors' comments on a page outside talk spaces, add the page to Category:Non-talk pages that are automatically signed by adding the category at the bottom of the page.
Use
- Remain opted in – no matter what your level of experience, the bot will still happily sign any comment it thinks you accidentally made without signing.
- Add {{YesAutosign}} to your user page or your talk page and allow up to 5 minutes for it to take effect. Note, if you use
{{NoAutosign}}
as well, opting out will take precedence over opting in (i.e., the bot will assume you actually want to opt out if you give conflicting choices).
- Add {{YesAutosign}} to your user page or your talk page and allow up to 5 minutes for it to take effect. Note, if you use
- Default behavior – the bot will either sign your comments or not sign your comments, depending on your experience or use of other opt out methods.
- Remove {{YesAutosign}} from your user page or your talk page and allow up to 5 minutes for it to take effect.
