Template:Tubestation
[[{{{1}}} tube station |{{{1}}}]]
Usage
This template expands a name to link to the appropriate tube station article, without displaying "tube station".
Optionally either a second or a third parameter can be supplied to distinguish between identically named stations in different locations. The second parameter puts the disambiguator in the middle of the title (as in "XXX (Second Parameter) tube station") while the third parameter puts the disambiguator at the end (as in "XXX tube station (Third Parameter)").
For example:
{{Tubestation|Piccadilly Circus}}
expands to: [[Piccadilly Circus tube station|Piccadilly Circus]]
.
Discretion should be used on whether to name the place itself or the station that serves it. In railway articles it is generally preferred to use the station unless specifically talking about the place, for example that Piccadilly Circus serves Piccadilly Circus.
Almost all London Underground stations follow the link form of terminating with "tube station".
The template can be abbreviated as {{LUS}} or {{lus}} (for London Underground Station).
Similarly-named stations
There are six such cases:
Default | Alternate(s) | ||
---|---|---|---|
Edgware Road | Circle / District / Hammersmith & City | Bakerloo | |
Hammersmith | Circle / Hammersmith & City | District / Piccadilly | |
Paddington | Circle / Hammersmith & City | Bakerloo / Circle / District | |
Shepherd's Bush | Central | Circle / Hammersmith & City | |
Swiss Cottage | Jubilee | Metropolitan | |
Wood Lane | Circle / District / Hammersmith & City | Central | Metropolitan |
Including the line name as the second parameter will link to the alternate station instead of the default.
