Usage
When placing this template on the article pages, please use the following guidelines:
- Please place the template after any template that is company specific. E.g. in the Burger King article the {{Burger King}} template would go first, then this one.
- When there is another, similar template, such as {{Restaurant chains in Ireland}}, place the template that covers the country the company is based in first. E.g. in the Burger King article, this template would go first because Burger King is based in the United States.
This template's initial visibility currently defaults to autocollapse
, meaning that if there is another collapsible item on the page (a navbox, sidebar, or table with the collapsible attribute), it is hidden apart from its title bar; if not, it is fully visible.
To change this template's initial visibility, the |state=
parameter may be used:

will show the template expanded, i.e. fully visible.
Guidelines for inclusion
When adding new chains to this template, please follow these guidelines:
- This template should only include chains that are national or are in a sizable region with more than 100 locations. Please do not add regional chains that have only a few locations in a couple of states.
- Please only include chains that are covered in the categories that are presently listed. If there are enough of an specific category to create a new section, please discuss this on the talk page before adding it.
- For chicken chains, please use the {{chicken chains}} template.
- For pizza chains, please use the {{pizza chains}} template.
- Only include chains under the primary category in which they do business, do not list them under multiple headings.
- Please only include chains that have an article on Wikipedia, do not add red links or external links.
